Heart and Stroke Research Program HMRI Heart and Stroke Research Program at HMRI University of Newcastle - partnered with Hunter New England Health and Hunter Medical Research Centre.

The Priority Research Centre for Stroke and Brain Injury includes researchers spanning multiple disciplines and faculties, and a strong partnership with the health service to integrate research culture directly into clinical application. The Centre’s focus is on research translation to improve outcomes for patients with stroke and brain injury, locally, nationally and internationally. The Priority Research Centre for Stroke and Brain Injury is a multidisciplinary research group, with international recognition for work in the areas of acute stroke therapies, stroke imaging, stroke genetics and biomarkers, and experimental modelling. Our vision is to be the leading stroke research centre in the southern hemisphere, with our work ranked alongside the worlds most elite stroke and brain injury research.

We are a team of researchers and people living with stroke and brain injury, and we want to work with you! You can get in touch to find out about, or join with us and participate in research.

The Priority Research Centre for Stroke and Brain Injury supports research work in acute stroke therapies, stroke imaging, stroke genetics and biomarkers, and experimental modelling. We bring together people with stroke and brain injury, researchers and medical professionals. Our focus is on research translation - which means making sure research findings change the way healthcare is delivered - to improve the lives of people with stroke and brain injury, locally, nationally and internationally.
