You might recognise this test for colour vision. 1 in 20 males have colour vision deficiency. Around 1 in 2000 females do too. This book helps diagnose. People with normal colour vision tend to see 8 and 29. The others see 3 and 70 usually.

Very occasionally when i ask "what number do you see here", a young person would say 2 and 3. Never an older person though.

2026 - big changes! We will now be called the Donald J Trump Memorial Eyecare Plus Optometrists Hamilton. This catchy name and future-focussed rebrand will ensure we make eyecare great again. It does mean that all glasses now have a 35% tariff, which will help set up a new practice in Greenland (or Iceland).

Also, we are closed this long weekend, and reopen on Tuesday morning.

Big shout out to my team for their hard work in 2025. Our optical dispensers Amanda, Sally, Therese and Abi have provided fantastic service, always with a friendly smile and some fun. Our optometrist Nick is "very thorough and knowledgeable" according to a recent - very accurate- review from a patient.
The practice has won some awards along the way too. These are business awards for the 140 Eyecare Plus practices around the country, and this one we have won 5 times now. You don't get these without the team being organised, hard working, with excellent communication. Thanks so much team!

We had a fabulous Style Show last week, where we showcased frames and sunglasses from Etnia Barcelona and Coco Song. These are two fantastic designers that make some really spectacular frames. We had 30 people come through to have a look, and enjoy some drinks and nibbles. Congratulations to our lucky door prize winners Fiona, Darren and Karen.
