Before Nouvelle ever opened its doors, there were 5 years spent learning, refining, and building a foundation in this industry — understanding skin, treatments, and most importantly, how to care for people properly.

Nine years ago, Nouvelle was created from that foundation — a vision of doing things differently. A space grounded in experience, education, and genuine patient care.

So much learning with the best group of women—and plenty of laughs along the way! Feeling really proud of the treatments we’ve delivered and the results we’ve achieved for our patients over the years.

If your hair suddenly feels thinner during menopause or after starting GLP-1 medications, there may be a biological reason why.

Hair thinning can occur during hormonal change or significant weight loss. Two situations we increasingly discuss in consultation are menopause-related hair thinning and hair shedding associated with GLP-1 medications used for weight management.

Menopause
Declining oestrogen levels can alter the hair growth cycle, leading to female-pattern hair thinning, where hair gradually becomes finer and density reduces across the scalp.

GLP-1 medications
Medications such as semaglutide may be associated with temporary hair shedding, often related to telogen effluvium — a condition where more hairs enter the resting phase of the hair cycle following rapid weight loss or metabolic change. This type of shedding is often temporary.

Research into hair restoration therapies has explored treatments that support scalp health and follicle stimulation.

• Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) provides growth factors that may support follicle activity.
• Microneedling (Dermapen®) creates controlled micro-channels in the scalp that can stimulate signalling involved in hair follicle activity.

Clinical studies in female-pattern hair loss and androgenetic alopecia have shown improvements in hair density and thickness when PRP and microneedling are used as treatment strategies.

At Nouvelle Cosmetics, scalp treatments are performed by our Registered Nurses following consultation and assessment.

Skin Needling with Dermapen®

Dermapen skin needling is a medical skin treatment designed to stimulate the skin’s natural repair process and support collagen production, helping to improve overall skin quality and structure.

Using the Dermapen® device, controlled micro-channels are created in the skin which activate fibroblasts and encourage new collagen and elastin formation over time.

A topical numbing cream is typically applied prior to treatment for comfort. Current research has not shown evidence that numbing cream alters the effectiveness of microneedling treatments - it only improves comfort.

Choosing a cosmetic clinic is more than booking an appointment — it’s choosing who you trust with your face and your long-term outcomes.

Before you decide, it’s worth reflecting on three important pillars:

Professionalism

Skin is biologically complex. It rarely responds to a single treatment in isolation. The most consistent, natural results come from a layered approach — evidence-based skincare, medical skin treatments such as needling, lasers and clinical peels, combined with a thorough facial assessment and an individualised treatment plan when considering cosmetic medical treatments.
A considered strategy will always outperform a quick fix.

Compliance

In Australia, cosmetic injectables are prescription medicines. If your provider is a Registered Nurse, approval must be obtained prior to treatment. A prescribing doctor is required to assess you — either in person or via Telehealth — at least every six months.
If you have not spoken with a doctor, treatment cannot ethically proceed.
Clear protocols protect patients. They are not optional — they are essential.

Comfort

You should feel safe, heard and respected. Ethical clinics discuss risks and realistic outcomes — they do not promise results. A consultation without treatment is not only acceptable, it is often the most important step. It allows you to assess the environment, the practitioner and whether the approach aligns with your values.
