Word of the Day: Juvenile Arthritis 🦴
/ˈdʒuːvənᵻl ɑːˈθraɪtɪs/
From Latin juvenilis meaning “youthful” + Greek arthron (“joint”) + -itis (“inflammation”). Put together, it literally means “inflammation of the joints in youth.”
Juvenile Arthritis (JA) is an umbrella term for various inflammatory and rheumatic conditions affecting children under 16. Symptoms can include joint pain, swelling, and stiffness, which may fluctuate in intensity and location.
Our chiropractors (working alongside paediatric healthcare teams) focus on supporting joint mobility, posture, and musculoskeletal function to help children move more comfortably and maintain normal development. While JA can’t be cured, early assessment and supportive care can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
