In August, the department proudly facilitated “Exercise Billycan”, a large-scale, multi-agency emergency management exercise held in the Wimmera region.
This was a valuable opportunity to bring together health and emergency services to strengthen our collective readiness for mass casualty incidents. Using the Emergo Train System, agencies collaborated in a safe, simulated environment to test and improve clinical and operational responses.
Importantly, the exercise was conducted with care and sensitivity following a real-life incident in the region the week prior. In consultation with agency leaders, we agreed it was appropriate to proceed, and all participating organisations respectfully delayed public communications until now.
Exercises like Billycan help ensure we’re ready to respond when it matters most.
