We are a team of dedicated and passionate, fully qualified herbalists and naturopaths that are here to be of service. Whilst we certainly operate as a herbal and naturopathic dispensary, our humble little shop also, and most importantly, functions as a space of community connection and wellness. Nimbin Apothecary advocates for a grassroots approach to health which permeates everything we do. From our extensive range of exclusive herbal products that are hand made by our staff, to the ethical sourcing of plants and products, to supporting local makers, we strive to keep our apothecary full of heart and soul in a world that is rapidly changing. Our fully stocked herbal dispensary means that our team of herbalists and naturopaths are able to provide over-the-counter herbal prescriptions and health advice. Nimbin Apothecary has a strong focus on health education and the tradition of folk medicine which reminds people that we each have the knowledge to care for ourselves, each other and our community. Our staff not only prescribe medicines, but impart wisdom and tools for sustainable and autonomous health and happiness. Our apothecary is open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, or on Saturdays and Sundays 10am - 3pm. If you can’t make it to Nimbin, please feel free to contact us via phone, our website, or social media.

Rosella season is almost upon us at Nimbin Apothecary! We use the vibrant red calyx of the rosella plant the part rich in antioxidants and that beautiful tart flavour.

This is our second season and I’m excited and ready for it this year. It was hours and hours and days and days of processing last year with each one being done by hand and my whole family got involved. The hardest part was trying not to eat them all fresh.

With everything that’s going on in the world it’s no wonder we are seeing more and more people who are feeling the weight of it all. This can look like, not sleeping properly, feeling stressed or anxious, irritated or sad or just down right pi**ed off!

Of course there are herbs to support this, but to be honest sometimes we have to feel dysregulated we have to lean into the uncomfortable feelings. No amount of Ashwaganda or Reishi mushroom is going to fix that.

When life gets to big for me I come back here, to my wild garden, the clouds, the trees, not because it perfect but because I know I have so much to be grateful for in the middle of it all.

This morning was just a little reminder to myself to slow down and notice. X

Just a quick update and what services we provide at the Nimbin Apothecary.

We are a herbal medicine dispensary that provides free short over the counter consultations for ACUTE conditions. And our fully qualified naturopaths and herbalists can make recommendations.

We can’t treat chronic conditions in an over the counter setting. We also don’t follow all the latest wellness fads and trends from social media, and definitely won’t sell you something for the sake of a sale.

We also fill scripts you have been given from other practitioners. And we have our beautiful retail space with our farm to bottle skin care plus more!

And yes, that’s me having a hot flush in reel time (yes there is a herb for that, and I’m about to go have it haha)

Two Fresh Plant tinctures available in the Nimbin Apothecary while stocks last.

Introducing Anise Hyssop! New to the shelf from our farm, this herb was originally planted for its flowers, to attract beneficial insects to care for our garden! However it’s done so well we decided to sell it as a tea!

A beautiful herb with a naturally sweet liquorice-mint flavour, anise hyssop makes a soothing and uplifting tea. Traditionally used to support digestion, respiratory health, and the immune system, it may help ease bloating, calm coughs, and gently warm the body. Its aromatic oils also give it mild calming and mood-lifting qualities, making it a lovely herb for both body and mind.

When people ask me “how do you manage it all?”

Me: hahahahahha it’s easy!!

I got to experience flying a few weeks ago and it was terrifying and majorly fun .. exactly like juggling a small business, a farm, being a mum and everything that goes along with all of that! And I would t change it for the world!

Gotta say this has got to be one of my most glamorous moments. Swipe for a good laugh!

Fiona’s last week at the Nimbin Apothecary 😢

Fiona has been working at the Nimbin Apothecary for over 13 years. Fiona has brought so much to the business as a qualified naturopath, an exceptional herbalist, and one of the most caring and nurturing people I know. But mostly a wonderful friend.

Many in our community have received Fiona’s wonderful love and care over our counter and I know she will be missed terribly.

Fiona’s last day with us will be this Wednesday the 17th September. Come in to wish her well in her next adventure.

I am eternally grateful for you Fiona, Love you loads ###

Nimbin Apothecary is Nimbin's only herbal dispensary, offering affordable over the counter professional health care advice from fully qualified herbalists. Since our establishment over 25 years ago we have specialised in providing individually prescribed herbal medicines, herb teas, nutritional supplements, lifestyle advice, general health care and a range of Apothecary brand aromatherapy products. Our impressive dispensary includes herb extracts, herb teas and an extensive collection of pure aromatherapy oils.We operate a busy shop in the heart of Nimbin village and we love what we do. Combining nature's wisdom with our desire to connect people with the power of plants we have spent over 25 years developing our own products for a wide range of health conditions and to promote wellbeing. We refine our recipes based on feedback from the many clients who visit our shop. Apart from blending herbal extracts into customer specific mixtures we make creams for cosmetic and therapeutic purposes, ointments, a range of essential oil based products, tea blends for specific needs and much more. Our on-line shop has been developed following many requests over the years to make our products more widely available. MAINTAINING WELLBEING We believe that holistic care, care that pays attention to the mind, body and spirit, is essential to maintaining wellbeing. Our dispensary has a strong focus on health education, promoting natural health knowledge so that people can learn to treat simple health problems from home, thus empowering the individual, their family and friends. DROP IN FOR A VISIT In our shop we specialise in individually prescribed herbal remedies for colds, flus, coughs, sinusitis, hayfever, parasites, bacterial infections, viruses, anxiety, insomnia, skin complaints and many more common health ailments. Where necessary we make appointments with one of the fully qualified health professionals who work alongside us.
