Short Term Respite is planned, short term support that gives participants a shift in routine while still feeling safe and understood.

Funding is usually drawn from Core Supports, and can include support workers, short term accommodation, and meals. But funding is only one piece.

The real difference is in the approach!

💙At Zest, we see respite as an opportunity to strengthen skills, build independence, and support regulation in real life environments💙

🔹We tailor each stay to the individual.
🔹We prioritise emotional safety.
🔹We support carers alongside participants.

Because strong support works best when everyone is supported✨

Behind the Scenes at Zest: Staff Spotlight ✨

In 2026, we’re shining a light on what makes our team truly unique, starting with the people who keep Zest running smoothly behind the scenes.

For February, we’re spotlighting Phoebe, our incredible Intake & Participant Engagement Officer 💛
Phoebe brings her passion for empowering people to every part of her role, connecting participants with the right supports and making sure their voices are always heard. Her dedication, organisation, and warm approach make a huge difference for our team and the people we support. A strong woman who wears many hats and handles her work with pride and care.

This monthly series is all about celebrating the staff who help Zest run, often quietly, but so powerfully.

And keep an eye out for our staff spotlight for March 👀✨

🌿Kangaroo Island Respite Recap 🌿

Our young adults recently headed off to Kangaroo Island for a memorable respite adventure filled with new experiences, connection, and plenty of laughter along the way.

From exploring beautiful coastal views to sharing meals, building independence, and creating meaningful moments together, the trip was a wonderful opportunity to step outside everyday routines and grow confidence in a supportive environment.

We love seeing friendships strengthen, new skills emerge, and participants enjoying experiences that feel fun, safe, and empowering.

✨ Our next Young Adult Respite is coming up on the 27th to the 29th of March. If you or someone you support would like to join us, reach out on our contact details below:

Why language matters in disability support and how our words can shape this!

When we shift from judgement to curiosity, from labels to understanding, everything changes. Thoughtful language builds dignity, autonomy, and real connection💙

A HUGE thank you to our team, and a massive shout-out to Katey, our Operations Manager, who led the charge in the final stretch and put in serious hours to make this happen 💥

Congratulations team, we did it!
