Once upon a time there lived a great and powerful sorceress.
She had the power to create life by taking two tiny single cell seeds, and growing them into a multi-billion cell human baby. And then through the unique power her body possessed she could deliver that baby into the world.
She also had the power to produce an incredible elixir to feed the baby, that would not just make the baby grow big and strong, but would also protect the baby from illness, soothe and comfort them.
And she, above all others, was revered throughout the land as the bringer of life.
Until one day the men of the land grew jealous of her power, and of the love and respect the people had for her.
They knew that they weren't strong enough to defeat her by taking her on face to face, but the men were cunning. So instead they resorted to base treachery, plots, tricks and manipulation to strip the sorceress of her power.
First, they convinced her that they could make it safer, easier and less painful to bring life into the world. All she had to do was surrender her power, submit to their rules and instruments. They called it progress and said it was the only way.
Next they told her they had developed a better way to feed babies.
They told her to only feed them for 20 minutes every 4 hours.
Then when the babies were hungry, and cried all the time, her elixir dried up, and the men told her she had never been able to make enough in the first place, and besides it wasn't that special anyway.
And little, by little with their lies and their tricks they sowed seeds of doubt in the sorceress's heart that slowly poisoned her, took away her powers so the men could control her, bend her to their will, so they could be the most powerful in the land.
