✨ Yesterday’s Adult Art Group Activity: Reflective Journals ✨
This week in our Counselling Clinic, participants created their own personalised reflective journals - a grounding space for emotional expression and creative release.
This activity was designed with several therapeutic goals in mind:
🟣 Emotional release
🟣 Autonomy
🟣 Creative exploration
🟣 Self-compassion
🟣 Building personal rituals for emotional regulation and self care
Each journal becomes a gentle container for daily (or occasional) check-ins, a space to express whatever is moving inside. Entries don’t need to be complete, polished, or “pretty.” They’re simply moments of honesty.
✨ Visual Entry Ideas:
• A quick drawing symbolising how you’re feeling
• Colour gradients to reflect mood
• Shapes or lines showing tension, calm, or energy
• A sketch of a meaningful object from your day
• Free drawing, scribbles, or abstract marks
✨ Written Entry Ideas:
• A single word (“Hope,” “Tired,” “Connected”)
• A short phrase (“Trying my best,” “Heavy but moving”)
• Three keywords for the day
• One small gratitude or grounding moment
The session was facilitated by our accredited mental health social worker and counsellor, Natalie Elphick; and offered free of charge thanks to generous support from Neami National's Su***de Prevention Team.
🖌️ Thank you to everyone who joined and shared space with us. Your creativity, openness, and presence made the room feel truly meaningful.
