💦 Did you know we offer Hydrotherapy at Functional Physio Queensland?

Hydrotherapy is physiotherapy in the pool — and it’s one of the gentlest, most effective ways to get your body moving again!

The warm water helps to:
✅ Reduce pain and stiffness
✅ Support your joints (less pressure, easier movement)
✅ Improve strength and balance
✅ Boost circulation and recovery
✅ Build confidence after injury or surgery

It’s perfect for arthritis, post-surgery rehab, chronic pain, neurological conditions, or if land-based exercise feels too uncomfortable.

Plus… it feels pretty great getting your rehab done in the pool instead of the gym 😉

If you’d like to try hydrotherapy or see if it’s right for you, chat to our team — we’d love to help you dive in!

🇦🇺 Happy Australia Day long weekend! 🇦🇺

Friendly reminder:
• Pace yourself at the BBQ 🍖
• Slip, slop, slap ☀️
• And maybe don’t attempt any backyard Olympic events after a few drinks 😅

We’ll be closed Monday 26th for the public holiday, but we’ll fix your heroic weekend injuries when we’re back.

Have a ripper long weekend!

Multi directional stepping. A Physio classic for improving your reaction to losing your balance. Trips and falls can be an issue for children, adults and older adults for many reasons from genetic conditions, medical conditions or normal ageing. But you can get better with practise.

This drill aims to train your brain and body to step with the correct leg when falling, instead of crossing over your legs and getting tangled up!

Have a look at some of the exercises our clients did in the universal exercise unit yesterday. Toddlers, tweens and adults with varying conditions including hypermobility, genetic conditions, autoimmune conditions and musculoskeletal/ post surgical rehab all benefited from modified resistance training in our “Cage”.

Because resistance training and the health benefits it comes with should be accessible and enjoyable for everybody.

Combining resistance with narrowed base of support (single leg work), coordinating opposite sides of the body and changing the direction of resistance can achieve;
-better posture and postural endurance
-improved bone density
-decrease incidence of chronic disease
-improve balance
-promote better body awareness and coordination

It’s been great to be back the last few weeks. Grateful I invested in a sit to stand desk for my return to work. After singing their praises to many clients over the years I finally stopped working on floors, fitballs and leaning up on massage tables!

People often over do the standing when changing to a sit stand desk. No one posture is ideal and movement/ change is the key. I’ve found 1.5hr-2hr sitting and 30-45min standing has been a good for me personally both for my body and productivity. There is no one size fits all approach for sit stand desks and experimentation is key.

Have you tried a sit stand desk? Answer below and leave me a comment on what you liked/disliked or your favourite accessories
