Nurse Nikki loves subtle volume in the right places for maximum benefit!

As we enter our glory years, we begin to notice subtle changes in the way our face is shaped and how certain curves shift over time. As our facial fat pads begin to move down and forward, we lose bone density (especially around the jaw), and our skin starts to lose some of its laxity.

In the past, overfilling cheeks and jaws was a common approach to address these changes; however, this often resulted in unnatural facial shapes and exaggerated curves where none were intended. It became noticeable and gave volumising treatments a bit of a bad reputation.

That’s not how volumising treatments should be used. Today, refinement and technique have evolved to create subtle, effective, and refreshing results — the kind that make people say, “You look well-rested!” rather than, “Have you had something done?”

One of my favourite areas for subtle volume to lift the mid-face is the hollow in front of the ear. It might sound like a strange area, but as we lose bone and fat here, a touch of gentle volume can create a hidden lift that softens and refreshes without being obvious.

Gone are the days of the “pillow face.” We’re now in the era of subtle, natural, and effective volumisation — treatments that build confidence and have people asking where you’ve just been on holiday, not what you’ve had done.
