Allowing a feeling doesn’t mean acting on it.

We can acknowledge anger without it causing harm.

We can notice sadness without collapsing into it.

We can feel anxiety without believing every fearful thought.

This is emotional regulation. Not suppression. Not indulgence.

💛This week, practise naming a feeling before responding to it.

✨ “You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.”

Focus on what is possible, what is achievable .

Every small action is a quiet vote for the person you’re becoming.

Getting out of bed when it’s heavy.

Sending the message you’ve been avoiding.

Resting when you said you would.

These moments build self-trust gently, over time.

You don’t have to change everything at once.

Just take one small step that feels kind and aligned.

🤍 What is one action you can take for yourself this week?

✨Meet our team✨
“You are seen, you are heard, and you are not alone.”

We’re so pleased to welcome Shalini, a developing counsellor and psychotherapist (practising under clinical supervision), to OWC.

Shalini works alongside children, adolescents, adults and families navigating emotional distress, life transitions, neurodevelopmental differences and relational challenges. With a background in speech therapy and a strong foundation in child- and family-centred practice, she brings a holistic, inclusive and evidence-informed approach to care.

Her work is person-centred, trauma-informed, and grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection.

🌿 If you’re seeking a compassionate space to feel seen and supported, reach out to learn more about working with Shalini.

"Unpacking feelings" isn’t about reliving everything you’ve been through.
It’s about noticing what you’ve been carrying — and deciding what deserves care.
Suppressing emotions often begins as protection. Over time, though, it can leave our nervous system working overtime and our needs unheard.

We believe feelings can be met gently, safely, and at your own pace.

📦This week, try naming one feeling without judging or analysing it. That’s enough.

There’s a reason flowers, candle-light, and shared meals feel meaningful.

Engaging the five senses helps the nervous system settle — creating space for presence, connection, and emotional attunement.

This Valentine’s season, we’re gently reframing connection as something sensory, human, and accessible — not performative or pressured.

Choose one sense to engage intentionally the next time you spend time with someone you care about.

You don’t need to feel grateful, positive, calm, or “over it” to be doing okay. You’re allowed to feel what you feel — even when it’s messy, contradictory, or hard to explain.

Honesty with our emotions isn’t about dwelling; it’s about meeting ourselves where we actually are.

💛 Save this post as a reminder that your feelings don’t need to make sense to anyone else.

🌿Our brains are designed to make meaning — especially under stress.

That doesn’t mean every thought is accurate, helpful, or a reflection of reality.
Often, it’s your nervous system doing its best to protect you.

Save this post as a grounding reminder for emotionally intense moments.

🌿Ever wondered why certain thoughts show up again and again — even when they don’t feel true or helpful?

Our thoughts are shaped by past experiences, our nervous system, cultural messages, and moments where our brain learned to protect us. They’re not always a reflection of who we are — they’re often echoes of what we’ve lived through.

Understanding where thoughts come from can soften self-blame and open the door to curiosity instead of criticism.

Save this post for moments when your thoughts feel heavy, and share it with someone who might need this reminder today.

🌿Thoughts show up all the time — some helpful, some confusing, some downright noisy.

And here’s the truth: not every thought needs meaning, action, or judgement. They’re just thoughts — mental events that come and go.

Save this post as a little reminder for those moments when your mind feels extra busy today.

🌿While intrusive thoughts can be related to mental disorder, they are more common than you think.

Having them do not necessarily mean you are broken, and there are ways to manage them.

✨Save this post for moments when your thoughts feel heavy, and share it with someone who might need this reminder today.✨
