A simple question that’s rarely asked in Shared SIL:

“Who is this placement actually working for?”

The system?
The provider?
The availability?

Or the people living in it?

Because sometimes everything looks “right”
until you look closer.

Routines are followed.
Support is delivered.
But something still doesn’t feel right.

That’s the gap between functioning and working.

Shared Supported Independent Living isn’t successful because it runs.

It’s successful when people feel stable within it.

At Tibii Disability Support Services, that’s the line we don’t ignore.

A shared SIL placement looked perfect on paper.

Same funding.
Same support ratios.
Same availability.

But within weeks, things began to break down.
Not because anyone failed.

But because the most important question was never asked:

Will these individuals actually live well together?

Shared Supported Independent Living is not just about filling vacancies.

It’s about creating an environment where people feel safe, respected, understood, and comfortable in their own home.

When compatibility is overlooked, everything else becomes reactive.

At Tibii Disability Support Services, we believe placements should begin with understanding the person not just the profile.

Because the right environment doesn’t just support needs.
It supports lives.

Standing Firm for Human Rights

Courage does not always appear in dramatic moments.

Often, it shows up quietly, in everyday decisions, in the determination to keep moving forward despite uncertainty, pressure, or fear.

In this month’s CEO Talk, Pouya Farbod reflects on the deeper meaning of courage and why it matters in the work we do every day.

Courage is not the absence of fear.

It is the choice to keep going when fear speaks the loudest.

At Tibii, courage means questioning systems that limit dignity, advocating for the rights of people with disabilities, and continuously challenging ourselves to become better supporters, partners, and leaders.

Progress has never come from comfort.

It has always come from people willing to stand firm for what matters.

Human rights, dignity, and choice are not abstract ideas for us, they guide every action we take and every relationship we build.

Because the future we want to see requires courage from all of us.

If you’ve been searching for a shared Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Adelaide, you already know how difficult the process can be. Waitlists are long, the options often feel generic, and even when a vacancy becomes available, it may not feel like the right fit.

At Tibii, we believe you deserve more than just a vacancy. You deserve a home where you feel a true sense of belonging, with housemates you connect with, a routine that suits your lifestyle, and a support team that genuinely understands you.

We’re rethinking how Shared SIL works in Adelaide, and we’d love to show you a better way. 👇

Thought Leadership in Action

As we move further into 2026, one thing is clear: the disability and human services sector is standing at a defining crossroads.

Across Australia, providers of all sizes are navigating unprecedented pressure, rising operational costs, evolving regulations, increasing compliance expectations, and sector-wide reforms that continue to reshape the landscape of human services.

At the same time, expectations for quality, accountability, and sustainability have never been higher.

This is not an easy balance to strike.

We have seen organisations across the sector close their doors, sometimes overnight. These moments are not isolated events they are signals that the system itself is under strain.

But within these challenges lies an important opportunity.

True thought leadership is not simply about ideas.

It is about action, about building organisations that are resilient, ethical, and sustainable while continuing to protect the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of the people we support.

At Tibii, we believe sustainability becomes possible when the right foundations are in place: strong values, responsible leadership, and systems designed to support both people and purpose.

Because the future of our sector will not be shaped by survival alone, it will be shaped by leadership.

Leadership that turns thought into action.

Charlotte thought it was going to be a normal day. Instead, it became a moment she will never forget.

One of Tibii’s long-time participants, Charlotte was surprised with a special trip. Her reaction said everything. Pure joy, excitement, and that beautiful moment of real surprise.

Moments like this remind us that support is not just about services or schedules. It is about people, relationships, and creating experiences that matter.

Seeing Charlotte’s smile was a powerful reminder of why these moments are so important.

At Tibii, every participant has their own story, their own personality, and their own dreams. Being part of those moments is something we never take for granted.

Deafblind Victoria was recently featured on ABC, with Nas Campanella sharing the story of Jael Espinal, a Deafblind advocate and project manager who is helping lead important co design work through lived experience.

Jael’s story highlights something powerful about Deafblind communication. Through small movements and gentle touch on the hand, people who are deafblind can share detailed information, emotions and full conversations. What may seem like the smallest interaction can carry an incredible amount of meaning.

Communication in the Deafblind community is deeply skilled, creative and precise. It reminds us that connection does not depend on sight or hearing alone. Human communication can take many forms.

At Tibii, we believe recognising and understanding different ways people communicate is essential to building truly inclusive communities. Every person brings their own way of connecting, expressing and participating in life.

Finding the right Shared Supported Independent Living (SIL) home is not always easy.

Often, the challenge is not the house itself, it’s finding the right match between people, environment, and support.

When participants feel comfortable with the people around them and supported by a thoughtful team, shared living can become a place where independence grows, confidence builds, and everyday life feels more stable.

At Tibii, we believe shared homes work best when they are built around compatibility, respect, and the right level of support.

Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing more about how carefully structured shared environments can create meaningful outcomes for participants and their support networks.
