How do I know if Support Coordination is in my Plan?

Participants can get support and services to help them live life to the fullest. This includes things like finding a place to live, getting a job, enjoying hobbies, and connecting with family and friends.

Your funding is all about what's considered 'reasonable and necessary' to help you reach your goals. It's there to top up the support you already get from your family, friends, and other community and government services.

Support Coordination, if it is deemed ‘reasonable and necessary’, is included in your Capacity Building budget. This is a set budget for a Support Coordinator who can help you make the most of your plan.

Now, if your plan clearly states the level of support coordination you're funded for, you'll need to stick to that. But if your plan doesn't specify the level, you have the freedom to choose the level that truly fits your needs.

Do You Know ❇️ What a Service Agreement is?
We like to think of a service agreement as a formal handshake between you and your provider. This agreement should outline a clear process on the support you will receive, how it will be delivered along with costs, timeframes and information on how to change or resolve disputes related to the agreement.

Some quick points:

A service agreement is covered by Australian Consumer Law and the NDIA encourages that you have a written service agreement.

It is important that providers support you in understanding the service agreement in a language and form of communication that you understand.

You can make a service agreement with your provider by yourself, or you can ask for help. Some service providers will have their own standard service agreement that you can use, or you can create your own.

If you're getting Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) supports through the NDIS, a written service agreement is a must-have!

We are proud to support Hidden Disabilities 💙

Some disabilities, conditions or chronic illnesses are not immediately obvious to others. For some people, this can make it hard to understand and believe that someone, with a “non-visible” condition genuinely needs support. Some people question whether you have a disability because you don’t look ‘like you have a disability".
This is why the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower was created - to encourage inclusivity, acceptance and understanding.
It is a simple tool for you to share that you have a hidden disability voluntarily. Simply by wearing the Sunflower, you’re just letting everyone know that you might need extra help, understanding, or just more time.

What is an NDIS Provider?

A provider is a person, business or organisation that delivers NDIS-funded supports to participants.

Providers come in all forms, large companies, charities, small not-for-profits, or sole traders.
All providers (registered or unregistered) must follow the NDIS Code of Conduct.
Registered providers are regulated by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
If your NDIS funding is NDIA-managed, you can only use registered providers.
If you’re self-managed or have a plan manager, you can choose both registered and unregistered providers.

The key is finding the right provider to meet your needs and goals.
