Harmony Week | Everyone belongs
This Harmony Week we celebrated the rich cultural diversity that makes our organisation strong.

As a leading disability support service provider in WA, we’re proud to have team members from over 50 countries supporting participants.

To mark the week, our teams gathered to share stories, reflect on what inclusion means to us and celebrate the power of belonging. From meaningful conversations of working harmoniously in a diverse and collaborative environment, to a shared lunch featuring dishes from our cultures, the event was a beautiful reminder that diversity brings us closer.

This year’s theme, Everyone Belongs, reinforced our Identitywa message of Creating Harmony Together.

A big thank you to Marina and Gill for their insights and to everyone who brought delicious foods that represented their cultural heritage.

International Women’s Day
Today we celebrated International Women’s Day with a beautiful Gratitude and Receiving Circle. Our team reflected on the meaning of equality, equity and empathy. We explored what inclusion and balance of power in the workplace looks like and the need to ensure every voice is heard. We also shared stories of and celebrated the inspiring women in our lives.

This year’s theme, Give to Gain reminds us that generosity and collaboration create ripple effects that strengthen our whole community. This idea connects with the UN Women Australia’s theme, Balance the Scales which calls for fair, inclusive and accessible justice for every woman and girl.

Together these themes highlight a shared truth, when we lift one another up, through support, advocacy or simple acts of kindness, we move closer to a more equal and connected world.

Special thanks to Gill and Ashlee for facilitating our discussions today and to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event.

Here’s to uplifting each other, celebrating women everywhere and creating meaningful moments of connection.

On Thursday we celebrated the official opening and blessing of our newest shared living home in Koondoola. Housemates, families and workers came together for a special morning to mark this exciting chapter.

Identitywa Chairperson Graeme Mander officially opened the home with Father Adalbert Imperial blessing the house, housemates and support team.

Since moving in last year, the housemates have settled into a comfortable rhythm. A huge thank you to our shared living teams, support workers, therapists, planners, builders and everyone involved.

Built with purpose, the home has been thoughtfully designed to support comfort, independence and accessibility. And most importantly to feel like home.

Meet Delia our Housing and Tenancy Officer at Identitywa.
Navigating Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) can feel overwhelming and that’s where Delia can help.

Delia supports participants and their families to explore their SDA options, understand what’s possible and stay connected throughout the journey.

Once you’ve moved in, Delia will continue to support you, ensuring your home feels safe, comfortable and well maintained.

Delia will help you by:
• Meeting with you and your family to discuss what SDA could look like for you.
• Exploring SDA options and understanding what may best suit you.
• Offering ongoing assistance after move-in e.g. holding meetings with housemates, conducting maintenance and property checks.
• Answering questions and providing the support you need throughout the entire process.

Today on the International Day of People with Disability, we hosted a celebration of all abilities and inclusion. Identitywa participants came together for a wonderful event jam packed with activities.

From wonderful music, creative arts, sports games, activities and a beauty bar, to delicious food and refreshing drinks, it was a day full of laughter, joy and connection.

The International Day of People with Disability theme this year is, ‘Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress,’ and highlights the importance of collective action in building a fairer world, one that fully respects and upholds the rights of people with disability.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the amazing abilities, talents and contributions of people with disability in our community.
