Today we celebrate the 2025 theme:

✨ Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress ✨

At Flex Care Adelaide, we’re committed to supporting a community where every person is valued, included and empowered. Our Physios, OTs and Allied Health Assistants work alongside people to build independence, wellbeing and meaningful participation in daily life.

December can be busy and overwhelming in community spaces. A few simple strategies can help make outings safer and more enjoyable:

👂 Support for hearing impairments
Busy environments and background noise can make communication difficult. Using written notes, clear gestures or quieter spaces can reduce stress and confusion.

🛒 Plan the environment
Shopping centres and events are busiest mid-morning and late afternoon. Visiting at quieter times can improve safety and comfort.

🧭 Navigation and pacing
Break outings into smaller steps, take regular rests and use mobility aids or support as needed.

Our OTs, Physios and Allied Health Assistants work with clients to build confidence and independence in everyday community activities.

At Flex Care we stay across the latest NDIS developments to ensure we continue to deliver safe, high-quality and person-centred care.

The NDIS Commission recently shared important updates, including the launch of its Strategic Roadmap 2025-27, focusing on:

• Strong regulation to protect participants
• Upholding human rights
• Supporting a sustainable future for the NDIS

There is also a renewed focus on provider accountability, behaviour support, and worker training to strengthen participant safety and quality of care across Australia.

We welcome these initiatives, and remain committed to delivering supports with integrity, transparency and respect.

💙 Supporting independence
💙 Protecting participant rights
💙 Delivering quality allied health services across aged care and NDIS

💡 Caregiver Tip

Encouraging safe, gentle movement supports both physical health and mental wellbeing. Short walks, stretching or chair exercises (as appropriate) improve circulation, reduce stiffness and lift mood. It’s not about intensity, but about staying active.

Stay Organised

💡 Caregiver Tip

Organisation is your best friend. Using calendars and reminders can significantly help manage your busy schedule. By keeping track of appointments and tasks, you can provide better care and reduce stress for both you and your loved ones. A clear system also makes it easier for others to step in and support if you ever need a break.

💡 Caregiver Tip

Clear, simple communication reduces misunderstandings and helps everyone feel heard. Be patient, listen actively and use positive body language to reinforce your message. Don’t say something that will intentionally hurt another person’s feelings. Recognise that the other person has the right to express their feelings as well.

Prioritise Self-Care

💡 Caregiver Tip

Caring for others starts with caring for yourself. Make time for relaxation, exercise and hobbies to recharge your energy and maintain a positive outlook on your caregiving journey. Remember: when you prioritise self-care, you can give the best of yourself, not what’s left of yourself.
