The words we use in mental health conversations matter.

Phrases like “commit su***de” are still commonly used, but they come from a time when su***de was considered a crime. While laws and understanding have evolved, language has not always kept up.

At One Good* Day, this is something our Recovery Coaches see firsthand. The way we speak can influence how safe someone feels to open up, seek support, and share what they are going through.

In our latest blog, we explore why language matters, what to say instead, and how small changes can reduce stigma and support recovery.

There’s no denying it: recovery can be HARD. It’s important not to push yourself beyond your limits and instead aim for small, consistent steps towards your goals ✅

The key is to keep each step simple and achievable. Try making the bed, going for a walk or taking a shower. One positive change at a time will add up to one good* day, then another, and another.

Our Recovery Coaches are here to support every small step you take on your journey. Visit the link in our bio or contact us below to take the first step.

If you had to sum up your day in one word… what would it be?

For our team, it’s eclectic and profound.

Because this work is never just one thing. It’s a mix of moments, big and small, that come together to create something meaningful.

At One Good* Day, we lead with unconditional positive regard. We meet people where they are, support them how they need, and follow through.

That’s what it means to back someone to live a good life.

And sometimes… you just have to end on a mic drop 🎤

Why is lived experience so powerful in recovery coaching?

Because it’s not just theory. It’s real.

It’s someone who has walked through the hard days, found their way forward, and now stands beside you while you find yours.

Lived experience brings something you can’t teach.

✨ Hope when things feel heavy
✨ Empathy that feels genuine
✨ Accountability that keeps you moving
✨ Relatability that builds connection
✨ Trust that feels safe and consistent

At One Good* Day, our Recovery Coaches don’t just support you… they get it.

And sometimes, that understanding is where everything starts to shift.
If you or someone you care about could benefit from dedicated Recovery Coaching, OG*D are here.

There’s a story behind this artwork...

This piece was created by Megan, an OG*D client living with bipolar disorder, who returned to her art practice after ten years away.

In her own words, Megan shares what it means to navigate psychosocial disability, find steady support through NDIS Recovery Coaching, and reconnect with identity beyond diagnosis.

“I no longer feel that I am my diagnosis. I am many other things.”

Some days are about big wins.
Some days are just about showing up.
Either way, we’re here for it.

(And yes… we’ve got our hats stacked and ready.) 🧢✨

This year reminded us that good doesn’t mean smooth or simple.
It means showing up through the ups and downs, being supported on hard days, and celebrating progress when it comes.
We’re honoured to support our clients and to work with a team that helps create good* days — even when the road is bumpy.
As we head into the holiday break, OG*D wishes you rest, care, and moments of good* in whatever way they show up for you.

Here’s to a safe and gentle holiday season, and to the year ahead. ✨

We get it. Life can be HARD. There can be days between the Fine* days, the Good* days that feel so much harder. But guess what? You’ve survived them all! 💪

On the days where you find yourself asking ‘why is it all so hard today?’ - try to gently remind yourself that you are a living and breathing example of progress. Remembering that recovery isn’t linear 💹, gently acknowledge the challenges you’re facing and chalk it up to progress. Without dismissing the difficulty, allow yourself to move through the discomfort with the reassurance that you WILL overcome it - however that looks for you.

Fall back on your support system, access your toolkit of coping skills or healthy distractions and know that you’re never alone. Your One Good* Day Recovery Coach is here to hold space for the ‘hard’ and support you through it. We’ve got you - and remember, we’ve likely been there.

If it feels too hard, take away any expectations and hold tight for the opportunity one new* day will bring. Hard days come to an end, and so will yours.

This past week was , a time to recognise, celebrate and stand with trans and gender diverse people in our communities.
It is a reminder of the strength, joy and resilience within the trans community and the work we all share in making the world safer and more inclusive.

Yesterday we closed the week with Trans Day of Remembrance.
A day to honour the trans and gender diverse lives lost to violence, discrimination and neglect.
A day that asks each of us to reflect, to pay attention and to commit to doing better.

At One Good* Day we stand with our trans community, our clients, our colleagues and our peers.
We believe in safety. We believe in dignity.
We believe everyone deserves the space to live, to breathe and to be seen for who they are.

For many people the week can bring a mix of emotions, from pride and empowerment through to grief, exhaustion or heaviness. However you are feeling, we see you. And we are here for all of it.

What matters is this, you are not alone.
We will keep showing up. We will keep listening.
And we will keep working toward one good* day, one good* week and one good* year for everyone in our community.
