Kia orana! I’m a proud Polynesian with Cook Islands and New Zealand roots, based in beautiful Shellharbour, Australia. I’m a Christian with a big heart for serving others, and I’ve built my work around what I love most > supporting people and making a real difference in the community.

I’m a support worker with a passion for helping others feel seen, supported, and uplifted. I bring warmth, humour, and a laid-back island vibe to everything I do, while still holding strong to a solid work ethic.

When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me fishing, golfing, watching sports, adventuring, spending time with family/friends, or laughing at my own jokes before anyone else does.

Is our growth fast? No — and that’s exactly how we want it. Growing too quickly means risking losing touch with what truly matters.

Our goal for 2025 is to begin supporting clients from the Illawarra region.
The push north has started and will continue — but at our own pace. 🤝

Yesterday, we took one of our vulnerable male clients to the local rugby league game to watch one of our support workers in action. made his club debut for with 4 tries. Big year coming!

Expression of Interest – Disability Support Worker

New Wave Support is looking to expand its team of dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Workers. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality care and support to people with disabilities. As a part of our team, you will help create an inclusive environment and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we support.

Position Overview:

We are looking for motivated and reliable casual support workers who can deliver services that align with the goals and needs of individuals living with disabilities. Your role will include providing assistance with daily activities, personal care, community access, and emotional support.

Key Requirements:
• Valid Driver’s License: Must hold a current, full driver’s license with a good driving record to support clients’ transportation needs.
• Casual Position Availability: Flexibility to work casual shifts to meet the needs of our clients.
• First Aid & CPR Certified: Current First Aid and CPR certifications to handle emergencies effectively.
• Working with Children’s Check: A valid Working with Children’s Check is required to ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals.
• NDIS Orientation Module: Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module to ensure an understanding of NDIS processes and duties.
• Comprehensive Car Insurance: Must have comprehensive car insurance if using personal vehicles for client transportation.

If you’re not used to being around someone like Leah, you may find the way she communicates intimidating. Among Leah’s siblings, she would be categorized as the one needing the most assistance. What always blows us away is that Leah engages the most out of all her siblings. She always washes her plates after dinner, loves being involved in preparing meals, and we’ve discovered Leah has some impressive moves on the dance floor.

It’s easy to sit back and think that life’s hard—and it can be. But sometimes, we need to sit back, take a breath, and draw encouragement from people like Leah.
