🎀 Mater International Women’s Day Fun Run 🎀

What a fantastic morning out with our Your Fit crew at the Mater International Women’s Day Fun Run yesterday!
We walked, jogged, and even threw in a few cartwheels along the way — all for a truly important cause.

This incredible event raises vital funds for breast cancer research and patient care, helping to improve treatment and outcomes for women and families affected by breast cancer. Sadly, most of us know someone who has been touched by this disease in some way — whether it’s a friend, family member, colleague, or someone in our wider community.

Events like this remind us that coming together, moving our bodies, and supporting one another can make a real difference.

A huge thank you to all of our amazing clients who showed up, got involved, and supported such a meaningful cause. We’re so proud of our community and the spirit you bring to everything we do. 💗

The 2pm Slump Might Not Be Hunger… It Could Be Hydration 💧

Ever hit that time of the afternoon when you immediately think you need coffee, sugar, or a snack to survive the rest of the day?

Before you reach for something quick… try a glass of water.

That mid-afternoon slump isn’t always hunger. Very often, it’s dehydration.

Even mild dehydration can cause:

Fatigue
Brain fog
Headaches
Poor concentration
Low mood
Increased cravings (especially for quick carbs)
Your body can’t run efficiently without enough fluid — and when you’re even slightly under-hydrated, your energy is usually the first thing to dip.

How Much Should You Be Drinking?

As a general rule:

👉 35–40ml of water per kilogram of bodyweight per day

For example:

60kg → 2.1–2.4L
70kg → 2.5–2.8L
80kg → 2.8–3.2L
If You’re Training:

Add an extra 500–1,000ml per hour of exercise, depending on intensity and sweat levels.

And remember — the hot weather is still lingering. When temperatures rise, your hydration needs increase.

Why It Matters Right Now

With warmer days and busy schedules, it’s easy to fall behind. But when hydration drops, so does:

Energy
Performance
Recovery
Focus
Mood
Let’s make the next month a hydration priority.

Simple Ways to Stay on Track...

At Home

Keep a large water bottle on the kitchen bench
Fill tomorrow’s bottle before bed
Drink a full glass before your first coffee
At Work

Keep a 1L bottle on your desk and refill it twice
Set hourly reminders
Sip during meetings
In the Car

Always travel with a full bottle
Keep spares in the door pocket
Take a few sips at each red light
Hydration isn’t flashy. But it’s powerful.

Better energy. Better training sessions. Better focus. Better afternoons.

Before assuming you’re tired— try water first.

Let’s commit to it this month

Meet the newest member of our team, Sarah!

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Exercise Science and Bachelor of Business at Griffith University.

Why did you get into the fitness industry? What is your why?
I got into the fitness industry because movement and exercise has always been a huge part of my life. Particularly through my background in sport. I love seeing and experiencing how exercise can build confidence, boost wellbeing and create a sense of belonging. It's not always about physical fitness.

Studying Exercise Science has been a highlight of my journey and showed me the science behind performance, recovery and the broader aspects of health.

My 'why' is to support others on their exercise/fitness journey and create positive spaces, where people feel comfortable and excited to move, no matter their level of experience. Everyone is welcome!

Hobbies: Music and concerts, Sports, fitness and training. Holiday planning, cooking and family time.

The last meal I ate: Banana Bread

Come and meet Sarah in a 1:1 session or an evening class!

It only took me 6 months to get Oscar on the reformer!

Have you had a session yet? Reformer Pilates is great for strengthening deep stabilising muscles, injury rehab and prehab, enhances balance and is for all fitness levels. As Oscar discovered, Reformer is a complimentary addition to your strength training and we highly recommend.

If you would like to book in for a session, contact the studio and we will get you in asap.
