In honour of World Social Work day….. we introduce to you the newest therapist at The Nurtured Village, Melanie Robinson, AMHSW. M.A.C.A, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (APTA) 💛
Mels is a Mental Health Social Worker, Clinical Psychotherapist and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, with over 25 years of experience working with children and families in paediatric mental health settings. Holding a bachelor’s degree in social work, a master’s degree in counselling and post graduate certification in humanistic play therapy. With a compassionate and deeply person-centred approach, Mels specializes in helping children of all backgrounds, brilliant brain types and abilities to express and process emotions, build coping skills, and work through challenges.
Mels utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities, including directive and non-directive play therapy, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) tailored to meet the individual needs of each child. She is committed to fostering a supportive therapeutic environment where children can express their feelings and strengthen their innate capacities.
In addition to individual therapy, Mels also collaborates closely with parents and caregivers, offering a safe space to explore strategies to support a child’s emotional development at home and in everyday situations. Mels believes in the importance of a holistic, family-oriented, and attachment responsive approach to healing and growth.
Outside of the therapy space, Mels is loving mum to three busy, growing boys. She delights in being an active member of her community and enjoys spending time in nature, singing and nurturing her temperamental sour dough starter in support of delicious home-made bread!
Join us in welcoming Mels and celebrating the incredible work that she does ✨
