π₯Ή An absolute honour to support this inspirational Woman! A big Congrats on achieving this awesome opportunity Abi, you're going to do such amazing things ππ¨β¨οΈ and thank you so much Foundation Barossa for your ongoing support for our community π₯°
We are thrilled to welcome Abi Hall as our inaugural Fran Clancy Memorial Scholarship recipient.
Foundation Barossa officially established the scholarship in July, in memory of Fran Clancy, who had sadly passed away from cancer.
Franβs husband, Paul, wanted to create a lasting legacy that reflected her passion for the arts and her belief in giving young people opportunities.
The scholarship supports young people who face barriers to study and want to pursue education in the arts.
As the inaugural recipient of the Fran Clancy Memorial Scholarship, Abi is now closer to turning her love of art and teaching into a career that will benefit young people in local schools.
Abi said she first heard about the scholarship through her art therapist, Tara Kate, who works in the Barossa.
Abi plans to use the scholarship to complete a TAFE course in visual arts, which will allow her to add specialist art teaching to her qualifications. Abiβs interest in teaching began at school. βMy language teacher at school was really good,β she said. βIt made me really want to be a teacher like that for other students.β
The photo was taken at the Barossa Bushgardens, a physical place of remembrance for Fran, where a tree has also been planted with a memorial plaque recognising the bequest in her name.
Franβs legacy will continue to support local young people through the scholarship.
A huge congratulations Abi for being our inaugural recipient.
As Franβs husband Paul said βI am so pleased Abi has been awarded the first scholarship in Franβs name. Iβm sure Fran would be delighted that such a deserving recipient as Abi will be helped in her studies in the arts. Abi is a worthy recipient, and I warmly congratulate her.β
