Massage is the art of paying attention, and a communication between my body and yours that tells you that it is safe to relax, let go, and feel whatever is present in the moment. It is a team effort. I am asking you to deeply listen and pay attention to your body, so that I can also deeply listen and pay attention to your body so that we can create positive change together.

Sometimes what is present is incredibly uncomfortable and obvious and other times it is more subtle and unexpected. Yes, I am mapping the body, finding the tight spots, working them out. I am also asking you to breathe, breathing with you, holding the areas of tension until they realise it is safe to relax. Under my hands, it feels like cold hard butter becoming warm and soft, or sandpaper becoming smooth. What you feel is tension and discomfort leaving your body. I will pay attention to these areas with you, until they relax.

Some feedback from a couple of my clients this week,

"That was a tough session - but today my hip is feeling better than it has in a year, thank you. I didn't know this level of movement was possible"

"Kia I had no idea how much emotion I could move through in an hour. That was really profound, I have not experienced that level of safety before in my life. Thank you".

Massage, to a point, is sustained attention and co-regulation. Yes, the physical and mental benefits are well documented, and I will speak about them in other posts. But for now, I just want to say - we live in such a fast paced (crazy) world, and we often forget to stop and pay attention to ourselves, despite the warning signs, and then we "just soldier on" through the discomfort which is what causes dysfunction, tension, stress, physical pain.

If you feel perhaps it's time to stop and take a breath, and pay attention to what is happening for you in your body, click on my link in my bio and book a massage with me. Let's see what positive change we can create in your body together.

Today is my final Day at in Claremont, which is a very bittersweet feeling. 10 years is along time to stay in one place, and I feel like I've lived 1000 lifetimes since I walked in for my first shift as an Osteo Assistant over a decade ago at the tiny, pokey little clinic on Ashton Ave. So much has changed, I have learned ao much. And, I'm proud of myself for making the leap into my own business. I'm also really going to miss a lot of the staff and my old regulars, but when change comes knocking, you simply must answer the door.

Thanks for everything POM team. Onward πŸ•Ί

I'm off to a festival from the 1st to 8th April, spending some well-earned time on the dance floor πŸ›ΈπŸ•ΊπŸŽ‰

I will be out of range and unable to answer texts, calls or emails - but you can still make and edit your appointments online.

I am currently fully booked until April 10th - shoot me a DM if you'd like to go on my waitlist, and if anyone cancels between now and the 1st I will shoot you a text!

Much Love,

Its important to remember to breathe during your massage - and it's also important to make noise if your body is asking you to! A lot of people apologise for making noise when they are receiving a massage but it's actually really valuable feedback for me as a practitioner. There's also just not really a lot of spaces where you can express your pain honestly in polite society. Let the room that you receive your massage in be one of those spaces.

Breath is one tool we have that can help regulate the body. Sounds is another (especially if you are like me and have a little neurospicy in you). Massage brings out all kinds of sounds - from laughter to crying to indistinguishable sounds. I will be checking in with you all the way through. Express yourself. It's all welcome here ✨️

There's something very powerful about booking a remedial masaage.

In a world that glorifies hustle culture, you are choosing to stop and listen to your body, notice what its telling you, and take action.

And that, my friends, is powerful. It's an honour to be trusted with your pain, tension, exhaustion. I love watching people walk in with pain, and walk out feeling better.

Let's work together to see what else is possible.

Hi, my name is Kia, I’m a remedial massage therapist with close to 10 years experience in the industry, and I’m the owner of Right Track Massage.

What I really do is use deep remedial massage techniques such as trigger pointing, deep tissue and dry needling to help reduce stress, tension and pain in the body. I’m also currently developing some embodied boundaries practices to help people break patterns that create stress and tension in the first place.

I believe Remedial Massage is more than maintenance, it’s a tool to empower you for life. When we pay attention to what our bodies are saying and give it what it needs, it can really improve your mental and physical health. Remedial Massage helps you show up for yourself so that you can show up for your community.

The real reason I do what I do is that I want more people in the world to listen to what their bodies are saying to them, so they can take action to be the change they want to see in the world. The world can be a really overwhelming place, and we have all been conditioned to work ourselves to the bone. Physical and Mental exhaustion has become the norm. Remedial Massage can help cut through that noise by reducing pain, fatigue and improving mental clarity. When people pause, rest and ask for help, they create more space for joy in themselves, think clearer, and make better decisions. That's the change I want to see in the world.

If this resonates with you, and you are ready to start showing up for yourself, you can send me a message or book online at my link in bio.

Headaches can be caused by a multitude of things. Most commonly in clinic, clients come in with tension headaches due to stress, jaw clenching or tension in the body.

By massaging the neck, back, shoulder and jaw muscles, we are able to reduce tension and tightness in the body, which has been shown to significantly reduce reoccurence of headaches. In some instances, it is also able to help with sinus headaches and migraines by addressing the underlying issues bringing on these issues.

Massage also reduces stress, increases blood flow and promotes relaxation.
