Taking or taken antibiotics recently?
It's important to restore your gut microbiome.
Probiotics have long been associated with antibiotic use to restore the microbiome, but how effective are they?
Some probiotics do aid the gut microbiome during antibiotic use by flooding the microbiome with beneficial bacteria. However, the beneficial bacterium in probiotics is transient in the gut - meaning they pass through the gut but do not encourage regrowth of good bacteria.
On the other hand, fermented foods and drinks also contain crucial bacterium for our microbiome and have been proven to encourage growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut.
If fermented foods and drinks are not your thing, there are other alternatives as well. Such as green tea leaf capsules, inulin fibre and omega 3.
Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all when it comes to choosing the best path for yourself prior, during and after antibiotic treatment.
Good Gut Colonics and Gut Health offer a comprehensive plan forward for optimal gut health by:
Obtaining a detailed history
Reviewing diet, exercise, gut and sleep patterns

Not many of my clients start the consultation with “I’ve been bloated / constipated / gassy or nauseated for the last week or two”. Often, they state it has been slowly getting worse over a course of months or years.

Our gut is good at telling us when something is wrong. Unfortunately, we often ignore it, until it is literally screaming at us.

What is your gut telling you?
How long will you wait before seeking guidance?

You may wonder how on earth our diet and lifestyle can have such an incredible impact on our mood.

The gut microbiome helps processes the essential amino acid Tryptophan from the food we digest. Without Tryptophan, our brain would not be able to make Serotonin. Serotonin is one of the neurotransmitters responsible for mood.

Interestingly, the gut produces 90 to 95 % of the body's Serotonin and the brain only produces 5 to 10%.
Whilst gut Serotonin cannot cross over the blood barrier and may not directly impact mood, it too, remains a vital neurotransmitter.
