🤕 Headaches That Start at Your Shoulders?

Not all headaches start in the head. Many are tension-related and begin in the shoulders, upper back, and neck.

🔹 Why this happens:

Tight shoulders and upper neck muscles — particularly the upper trapezius, levator scapulae, and suboccipitals — can restrict blood flow and irritate nerves that refer pain upward into the head.
Poor posture, desk work, stress, and sustained muscle tension are common contributors.

🔹 What’s going on in your body:

• Muscle trigger points referring pain into the temples or behind the eyes
• Reduced circulation to the neck and head
• Increased nervous system sensitivity
• Limited neck and upper thoracic movement

🔹 How remedial massage helps:

✔️ Releases tight shoulder and neck muscles
✔️ Deactivates trigger points
✔️ Improves circulation
✔️ Reduces tension contributing to headaches

✨ Treating the shoulders and neck often reduces headache frequency and intensity — especially when addressed early.

✔️ Muscle Function & Recovery

A 2024 randomized, controlled clinical trial showed that photobiomodulation therapy (combining red & NIR light) improved muscle strength and mobility, and even reduced ICU stay times in patients recovering from serious illnesses.

💻 Sore Neck from Desk Work? Here’s Why

Prolonged desk work often places the head in a forward position. For every few centimetres the head moves forward, the load on the neck and upper shoulders increases significantly. Over time, this leads to muscle overload, reduced circulation, and irritation of surrounding tissues.

🔹 What’s happening in your body:
• Tight upper trapezius and levator scapulae
• Overworked deep neck flexors
• Restricted shoulder and upper thoracic movement
• Reduced blood flow and oxygen to the muscles

🔹 Why pain builds up:
Static postures limit movement, allowing waste products to accumulate in muscle tissue while weakened postural muscles struggle to support the neck efficiently.

🔹 How remedial massage helps:
✔️ Targets specific overworked muscles
✔️ Improves circulation and tissue health
✔️ Reduces muscle guarding and trigger points
✔️ Supports better posture and range of motion

✨ Addressing neck pain early helps prevent it becoming chronic. Remedial massage focuses on why the pain occurs, not just where you feel it.

Near Infrared (NIR) & Red Light Therapy — the perfect add-on or stand alone treatment 💆‍♀️🔴

Ever wondered how light can help your body heal? Here’s the science made simple 👇

🔴 Red Light Therapy works on the surface layers of the body to:
• Support muscle recovery
• Reduce inflammation
• Improve circulation
• Promote tissue repair

🔴 Near Infrared (NIR) Therapy penetrates deeper into muscles and joints to:
• Help relieve chronic pain
• Support deeper tissue healing
• Assist with joint stiffness and soreness
• Enhance post-treatment recovery

✨ When combined with remedial massage, this therapy helps prepare tight tissues before treatment and supports faster recovery after — meaning better results for your body, not just short-term relief.

📅 Launching soon — keep an eye out for booking details!

Your body does the healing. We just give it the right tools 🖤
