AAC Awareness Month 🗣️

October is AAC Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the amazing diversity of communication and the wonderful individuals who remind us that there are so many ways to connect, share, and be heard!

AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) can include gestures, visuals, sign language, communication books, and speech-generating devices — all of which give people different ways to express themselves and connect with the world around them.

This month, lets celebrate those who use AAC every day, showing us that communication is about connection, not just words.

A big shoutout to all the incredible Speech Pathologists across our Central West community. We love working with you all, and seeing your passion for helping every person find their voice.

🧩 DCD Awareness Week

Last week was DCD Awareness Week!
DCD is a motor skills condition that affects a child’s ability to plan and coordinate movements.

Children with DCD may find everyday tasks like handwriting, getting dressed, riding a bike or joining in with sports more challenging. But with the right support, they can build the skills and confidence they need to participate and succeed in their own unique way.

Paediatric Physiotherapists play a key role in helping children with DCD. We understand how to support their strength, balance, coordination, and motor planning through fun, purposeful movement and play.

To all the incredible kids with DCD — your determination, resilience, and creativity inspire us every day! 🌟
