As a member of the EMDR Special Interest Group of the APS - we am excited to be sharing this opportunity to learn with Sarah Schubert in a 1.5 hour webinar on 19th November (6pm - 7:30pm AEST).
Join Sarah for a reflective exploration of how therapeutic work with children healing from trauma can enhance your clinical work with adults. In child therapy, we witness the innate healing wisdom of the child — who can only heal within the coregulation of safe, trusting relationships and connection to self-identity. Trauma therapy with children requires working flexibly, creatively, somatically with what emerges; conceptualisation requires hearing the implicit, preverbal trauma narratives through a felt sense of our own nervous system; and reprocessing implicit and explicit memory of the mind and body through the language of fun, movement, art and play.
Similarly, as adults, our trauma stories often lie beneath conscious awareness, held in the body, and beyond words. Adults too carry stories of life experiences that leave them stuck in protective, defensive states, disconnected from themselves, and with a fractured sense of identity that may make healing feel impossible. This presentation invites you to reflect on the wisdom our young clients offer—reminding us that healing is always innately possible when the therapeutic space is safe, attuned, creatively, and compassionately held.
This webinar is suitable for those trained and not trained in EMDR.
