People living in regional, rural and remote Australia face real barriers to accessing support for domestic, family and sexual violence. These can include limited services, transport challenges, privacy concerns, shame and stigma, and a lack of trauma-informed and culturally appropriate support.

All these factors can make reaching out for support even harder. 1800RESPECT provides safe, accessible support, no matter where you live in Australia.

Call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732, text on 0458 737 732 or visit www.1800respect.org.au for online chat and video call services.

As we approach the 26th of January, we recognise it is a day of mixed feelings for many people. We respect these various views and hope that the National Public Holiday be a time for inclusion and understanding as we reflect on our national journey.

We hope the day can bring people together to reflect on the strength, resilience and enduring cultures of First Nations peoples, alongside the diversity and optimism of our multicultural society.

We remain committed to genuine partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders and peoples seeking guidance, permission and shared understanding in how the day is recognised.

If you are looking for immediate wellbeing support over the long weekend, you can reach out to the support numbers below. Otherwise, most Stride services will return on Tuesday 27th January.

For 24/7 Support:
13 Yarn on 13 92 76
Lifeline on 13 11 14
Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636
or in an emergency, always call 000.
