✨ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴: 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 ✨
Andrew’s journey with Wangarang began back in high school, when he joined us for work experience and he’s been part of the Wangarang family ever since. That early opportunity helped Andrew build confidence and take the step into employment after finishing Year 12, and today he’s a proud and valued member of our Production Hub team.

Like many people starting out, Andrew felt a little nervous at first, especially in a busy and sometimes noisy workplace. With support from his team, he’s learned strategies to manage sensory challenges and has grown in confidence year after year. He loves his role, the sense of contribution, and most of all, seeing his workmates each day.

Andrew was also elected by his peers as a workplace delegate - a role he really enjoyed, giving him the chance to connect with others and be a voice for his colleagues.

Outside of work, Andrew takes part in Wangarang’s Life Skills & Recreation programs, where he truly shines in arts and creative activities. He enjoys farm life and time in town and has a big passion for music and performance. With the help of a vocal coach, he’s been developing his singing and dramatic talents. He believes that success comes from practice, focus, and singing from the heart 🎶
“I like singing because you can put your feelings into it,” Andrew says. “If you practise and focus, you can get better and better.”

And if you ever hear a Michael Jackson song playing in the Production Hub… don’t be surprised if Andrew’s voice is singing along, sometimes louder than the radio 💛

Last week, around 40 families and carers came together with Wangarang management and staff to talk about Wangarang’s future plans.

Our CEO, Chris Rawlins, shared Wangarang’s new 2030 Strategy, and we loved having the chance to connect, listen, and hear honest feedback from families about what’s working well and what they’d like to see as we move forward.

It was also a great opportunity to welcome our newest Board member, Steve Peterson, and introduce him to some of our wonderful families. Thank you to everyone who took the time to be part of the conversation.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻!
Wangarang’s Life Skills and Recreation team have proudly celebrated the official opening of our new sensory space The Gold Room, generously funded by Newmont.

Designed to provide a calming, inclusive, and engaging environment, The Gold Room supports our participants to learn new skills and be creative. The massive interactive whiteboard provides a range of sensory experiences, including puzzles, digital art, video creation and games. And importantly, the space is relaxed, quiet and peaceful for when participants just want to find their calm.

A huge thank you to Rami Ghattas – Manager, Sustaining Capital and Newmont’s disability pillar leader, for cutting the ribbon and officially opening this exciting new space. We are incredibly grateful for Newmont’s ongoing support of our community programs. Thanks also to Nicola Searle, Kate Lapointe and Nicole Morris from the Newmont team for being part of the celebration.
