OAMS - Culture Care Connect and Forbes Yoorana Gunya: working in collaboration to best support our men and their daily challenges that they experience in regards to their Social & Emotional Well Being and Mental Health - issues in both communities.

Our OAMS men's 3 Rivers Fishing Group travelled over to Forbes to meet with the Forbes Yoorana Gunya men's group. We was welcomed with a egg and bacon roll before heading out to the beautiful Kalari river to wet a line and have a good yarn.
While out on the river bank the men from both communities connected, had yarns and shared stories about their own personal journeys. Few fish caught but no photo evidence LOL. The fish seemed to get bigger every time someone spoke about catching one at their secret fishing holes. True fishermen 🙂

We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Forbes Yoorana Gunya men's group as all men who attended and staff had a great day out .

For any men in our Orange Community who are OAMS patients (or who would like to become a OAMS primary patient) that would like to join this group. you will be required to have a current 715 Health check and a current Mental Health Care Plan. If you need support arranging these appointments please do not hesitate to make contact with our Care Recovery Practitioners.

On 13 February 2008, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd delivered the National Apology to the Stolen Generations. 18 years on, we reflect on the significance of that moment - not as an end point, but as a commitment to truth, healing and accountability.
We honour the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations survivors, including those who stood at Parliament House and those who listened across communities, and we remember those who did not live to hear the apology. The impacts of forced removal continue to be felt by families and communities today.
The journey toward justice, healing and self-determination continues, and we remain steadfast in holding space for survivors, their descendants, and the ongoing work of reconciliation grounded in truth.
