PAEDIATRIC OT SERVICES 2026 ||

I am feeling really jazzed about 2026, it’s been awesome already!

In January Sarah and I met, and as always, we have more ideas and passion than time ☺️ Needless to say exciting times ahead.

The ‘poddies’ as we refer to our tri-alogue, Tracy Stackhouse, Cory Dundon and myself, also met in January, which was an absolute joy! We’ve booked in dates and launching a new format this year. Love to hear your thoughts.

And.. I’ve been invited to join the Clinical Support Team at Camp Jabiru in April, which is an incredible honour.

I’m thrilled to continue to offer the following services throughout 2026. If any of the following piques your interest, drop me an email Michelle@seedpaediatricservices.com

Happy days
Michelle

Hello 2026!

Yes, I’m slow off the mark if you consider New Years Day to be the magic date 😂

At the end of the year I was slower to wind down into a gentle holiday rhythm and dampen my OT thoughts, which pretty constantly surveils things like:
🌱 How are my children and families going?
🌱 Are the OT’s I mentor gaining knowledge and confidence?
🌱 Should I share changes to the NDIS and the impacts?
🌱 What’s the next topic for our podcast?
Was it just me, or did it take is all a little longer to wind down at the end of the year?

As usual, being surrounded by our family and friends changed my pace and thoughts shifted to simpler things: making the next glorious salad, deciding where to sit to savour my coffee at sunrise, guessing when the dolphins might visit, choosing what colour to make the next clay earring, wondering why didn’t I pack one piece of warm clothing, and feeling overwhelmingly grateful all our family and friends are happy and well.

I eased back in my OT world through January: spending time creating a new workshop and information sheets to share on our website, returning to mentoring OT’s and sessions with kids, welcoming students back to Anson St School, generally thinking - isn’t life grand?

I’m sure 2026 is going to fabulous for us all,

Michelle

LEARN WITH US || Who wants to join me in conversation about BIG behaviours on Friday 13th March in Young, NSW?

You’ve probably seen it; the chair tipping; the sudden tears; the child who escalates ‘out of nowhere’; the child everyone worries about. If you’re interested in understanding complex behaviour and why ‘managing behaviour’ is a misnoma then join us on Friday 13th March in Young NSW.

I’m knee deep in the literature, yet hoping to breathe life into it with conversations and stories so that this will be the most interesting and fun day possible!

If this sounds like what you need, please feel free to email me or follow the link to our website to register via email https://www.seedpaediatricservices.com/workshops-training-and-ot-mentoring/ .

Can't wait to see you there 💛

Hello 👋 I have spent January in the office, working on a new workshop and making plans for the year ahead. We can’t wait to share more of this with you soon!

We had a Christmas by the beach – just the four of us and it was heaven! Escaping to the beach felt like it was just what we all needed. We leant into the slow days, loose bedtimes, champagne and free range children. You don’t realise the weight you’re carrying until you breathe out, and I relished in the opportunity to switch off and make this the priority.

Side note: Our daughter Posy asked for a tractor from Santa for Christmas, the same as Ted! When it arrived, she was less than pleased and has not looked at it since 😂

We hope you enjoyed those precious days with the people you love.

PAEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ||

We’re ecstatic to share the results of research (an RCT!!!) conducted on 94 children aged 6-8 years with ADHD found that Occupational Therapy using Ayre’s Sensory Integration significantly improved sensorimotor, executive functioning and emotional regulation AND increased participation at home and community. This research has been a longtime coming and confirms what we’ve achieved clinically for decades.

Deep respect and thanks to Dr Jean Ayres and the reasearchers.

It was fab catching up with Jess, Educator from Indi Supports and Jenn Speech Therapist, the clever people who created MyComms. A handy app that helps people create personalised visual supports, which not only facilitates communication but also assists in learning new skills and building predictability across the days and weeks.

We particularly love that photos are easily uploaded, allowing people to create really personalised visual supports for anything and everything for their kids. Day to day activities such as getting dressed, morning, afternoon and bedtime routines, or weekly schedule can easily be captured. Congratulations Jess and Jenn on creating such a great resource!

LEARN WITH US ||

This time last week Michelle was Trundle Children's Centre wrapping up a full day workshop about child development, regulation - dysregulation and behaviours that can result from moments of dysregulation, attachment theory and sensory integration.

30 experienced and eager early childhood educators came from far and wide to learn together, share ideas and to brainstorm new strategies to take back to their centre. The wealth of experience, passion and compassion in the room was extraordinary. It was also a reminder that the further west we go, the greater the gap in access to services and much still needs to be done to ensure equity of access in rural and remote regions.

Huge thank you to Tundle for hosting such a fabulous day. It was such a blast to be back home and to see what a phenomenal job the community has done converting the Bowling Club into a beautiful and homey children’s centre. Thank you also to all the staff for your country hospitality, baking platters of divine slices, biscuits and cakes for our morning and afternoon tea, truly fit for the Queen.

PAEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ||

Last week I, Michelle, travelled to Ubud Bali joining 30 other OTs for a week of immersive learning about the SPiRIT Clinical Reasoning Tool and engaging with the beautiful children who attend the community established school Bali volunteering - Yayasan Widya Guna
The experience absolutely blew my mind, heart and spirit. It was simultaneously gloriously rewarding and challenging, inspiring and uncomfortable, heart warming and sad, and like all extraordinary experiences will take some time to process and integrate.
I'm eternally grateful and inspired by my dear friend and brilliant, compassionate and gracious leader from Developmental FX - The Developmental & Fragile X Resource CentreCentre who took us on the incredible journey, meeting us all where we were at, holding us when we wobbled and reminding us to be kind to ourselves as we learn.
Huge thanks to Linda and Hannah for dreaming up the idea and bringing it to fruition, and Ange for being our right hand woman.
Massive thanks to all the phenomenally clever and generous OT's who I had the pleasure of learning from and treating with, especially Hannah Melinda and Sara.
It was an absolute honour and I cannot wait to do it again in February.
