Pain in your calf?

Calf and Hamstring Strains are common within the first month of return to sport- especially in higher impact sports that involve running, jumping and/or change of direction

The Sports Medicine Australia has some interesting fact sheets on these injuries, and Harry has put together a hamstring injury prevention program on our website you may find useful for yourself, your team or as a coach

Its also helpful to remember that not all of these apply to pain that is caused by an acute injury and has only just begun

Do you or someone you know have knee pain / patellofemoral pain?

Did you know that this is not only very common, but also treatable?

Although everyone is different, and an individualized assessment and program will usually have the most benefit there is things you can try at home/with your personal trainer as well/first.

A great place to start is with the major muscle groups that are most commonly affected/ contributing to this pain
- quadriceps strengthening & stretching
- gluteal strengthening & stretching
- core strengthening

Neck pain is one of the most common reasons for pain

- up to 15% of adults have an episode of neck pain each year

- Anyone at any age can experience neck pain

- there are factors that increase your risk of pain including: age, lack of fitness/exercise, being overweight, certain types of jobs that involve heavy lifting/pushing/pulling especially with repetitive upper limb movement
(if you have any of these it does not guarantee pain but make preventative management something you should consider more seriously)

- Can be more complicated to diagnose and treat than some areas due to the close relationship with the thoracic spine and shoulder (which can be a cause of neck pain)

- Can be caused by sleeping poorly but may also be a result serious injury (e.g. car crash) or indicative of serious illness/injury

- Scans are not always needed/necessary or helpful in making a diagnosis or treatment plan

-Rehabilitation alongside medical intervention (where appropriate) is indicated in both acute and chronic neck pain
