Anxiety and depression are often referred to as the silent killers.
People suffering from depression find that it affects how they feel, think, and function in daily life. They generally feel isolated, sad, empty, have a loss of interest or pleasure.
Anxiety is different but also painful. It fills the mind with worry and fear. A person may feel their heart racing, their chest tight, and their thoughts spinning out of control. Even when nothing bad is happening, the mind keeps expecting the worst.
Together, depression and anxiety can make people feel alone. Sometimes they think nobody understands, or they feel like a burden to others. This can make them stay silent about what they are going through.
But silence is what makes these struggles stronger.
Reaching out can help break that silence. Talking to a friend, family member, counselor, or support group can make a difference. It may feel scary at first, but sharing the weight can make it lighter.
