Diagnosing ovarian cancer relies on more than symptoms alone – pathology plays a central role.
Histopathology is the most important test for confirming ovarian cancer. By examining ovarian tissue under a microscope, pathologists determine whether cancer is present, identify the type and grade, and provide critical information that guides treatment decisions. Blood tests such as CA125 may also support diagnosis and ongoing care, but cannot diagnose ovarian cancer on their own and must be interpreted alongside imaging and pathology findings.
This Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, we’re highlighting the essential role pathology plays in accurate diagnosis and informed treatment planning.
If symptoms feel new, unusual, or persistent, speak with your doctor.
