A huge thank you to Kalamunda Education Support Centre for welcoming Siobhan in to train your incredible staff.

It was a privilege to support your team with hands-on, practical education covering:
• Enteral feeding
• Midazolam administration
• EpiPen use

This kind of training matters.
When staff feel confident, supported, and clinically capable, it directly translates to safer care and better outcomes for the young people they support every day.

We love partnering with schools and services that genuinely invest in their teams for the passion of their role and empowerment, not just to tick a box 💙

Thank you for your trust, your engagement, and your commitment to best practice.

Here’s to confident, empowered educators, and calm, capable responses when it matters most 👏

At Kalkoup Community Care, we believe community care works best when we slow down, listen deeply, and focus on what truly matters; our people.

Taking that into consideration we are proud to share that our Founder and Registered Nurse, Siobhan Hegarty, will be presenting at the first NDIS Coffee Connect of 2026, hosted by Surgical House

📅 Wednesday 26 February
⏰ 10:00am
📍 Surgical House Community Training Centre
46 King Edward Road, Osborne Park

Siobhan’s presentation,
“What we know for sure, that just isn’t so — learning to see what matters in Community Care,”
draws on years of frontline nursing and community experience, challenging assumptions and inviting thoughtful, human-centred care conversations.

‘It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so.’

NDIS Coffee Connect brings together Support Coordinators, Service Providers, Plan Managers and Advocates in a relaxed, welcoming space to connect, share perspectives, and enjoy meaningful conversation (and good coffee ☕).

✨ More details and booking info coming soon.
We’d love to see familiar faces — and meet new ones.

This weeks spotlight ✨

Siobhan attended the Wound Management Update course run by the Australian College of Nursing, after thoroughly enjoying the past education days with Gary Bain.

Gary has been involved in delivering and teaching wound management since 1987. Currently in private practice as The Wound Guy, Gary provides education to medical, nursing, allied-health and product-industry personnel.

This workshop was a practical, evidence-based learning experience packed with up-to-date strategies for assessing and managing wounds. Something Siobhan is not only passionate about but forever learning and broadening her knowledge It was a great opportunity to dive deeper into clinical best practice, refresh hands-on techniques, and connect with other health professionals.

Well done Siobhan, thank you for all of your hard work and for always seeking to expand your knowledge.

A big thank-you to Surgical House and Ellen from Essity!

Together, we provided an in-service to the My Flex Health team, focusing on leg compression and wound care for heavily exuding wounds.

Great teamwork and a great session!

What a fantastic day of education!✨
Last Thursday, Siobhan had the privilege of presenting at the Care in Community Training Day hosted by Surgical House 🙌

She delivered three sessions on:
👩‍⚕️ Practical Application of Secretion Management
🧼 Safe Practice For Managing Infectious Patients
💉 Wound Bed Preparation: Debridement

These practical, hands-on topics are close to our heart at Kalkoup Community Care, as they support safer, more confident care for clients living with complex needs.

We loved connecting with other wonderful healthcare partners including Hartmann, Smith+Nephew, Avanos Medical, Mun Australia, Nutricia, and Coloplast and being part of such a collaborative day of learning and sharing 👏

We’re proud to keep building knowledge, skills, and confidence across the community care space. After all, we are stronger together.
