“Different isn’t less. Different is necessary.”

International Day of People with Disability - Australia has created an insightful video featuring their 2025 Ambassadors discussing their big questions on how we can build a more inclusive society.

Today, 3 December, the world acknowledges International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). The theme for IDPwD 2025 is Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress.

The theme means we all need to work together to make society fairer and respect the rights of people with disability. To do this, we need to:

✅ Take away barriers that stop people with disability from joining in.
✅ Make sure people with disability have the same chances as others.
✅ Have health care and good education that everyone can use.
✅ Include people with disability in all parts of life.

IDPwD 2025 Ambassadors discuss their big questions on how we can build a more inclusive society.

Yesterday, our paediatric nursing team learnt about the latest developments in Blenderised tube feeding, or BTF. This method lets blended foods and liquids, like homemade smoothies, pureed baby food, or formula, be directly fed through a feeding tube.

The exciting news is that a regulatory-approved feeding pump is now available in Australia and New Zealand that can deliver thick, blended formulas. These formulas are classified as Level 2, 3, and 4 under the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) guidelines.

If you have any questions about BTF and applying it to your care routine, reach out to our team at hello@athomecare.au or contact us via the details on athomecare.au/contact-us/

Today, we celebrate the heart of our communities, the support workers, nurses, disability and health professionals, and everyday individuals who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

Their compassion, resilience, and commitment make a profound difference every single day. Whether in hospitals, disability services, the community, or at home, these individuals are the backbone of our neighbourhoods and societies.

Let’s take a moment to recognise their invaluable contributions and advocate for continued appreciation for the care workforce.

💙 Thank you for all that you do.
