The role of a birth doula is that of a professional, non medical birth companion, able to provide :
*continuity of care
*reassurance and encouragement
*breathing and relaxation techniques
*Massage
*Help with labour and birth positions
*support for partners
*pre and postnatal visits

Our Overall Aim as a birth Doula is to help the mother experience a more positive labour and birth. I want to support all woman in their pregnancy and birth. For those with healthy pregnancy, through any type of birth. For those who are high risk, those with prediagnosed outcomes and even those whose baby's have passed away. When a family has a baby who has died (whether miscarriage, stillbirth, neonate or older) the next pregnancy is called a rainbow. This is often full of fear as well as hope. As a mum who has been there, and Stillbirthday Bereavement Doula I hope to be able to provide emotional support as well as personal knowledge to support you as a doula. I have had four babies. My two girls, followed by my first son who was stillborn. I was fortunate to be able to have another little boy my special Rainbow. I know from experience the challenges families face, and want to help woman make their own birth experiences special and something to cherish no matter what the outcome

Today is rare disease awareness day. It took my 6 years and over 109 surgeries before I was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos syndrome.- a rare autoimmune tirade that affects connective tissue. Very person who has it presents differently so is often misdiagnosed, misunderstood and we
Are treated like it’s all in our head.
Today I want to raise a little awareness on this disorder which affects not only me but at least 4 Other people in my family we know of and possible all my children.

❤️ babywearing. Why do you babywear?

My husband drew to my attention that Dads I am talking to about carriers probably get enough of Mums telling them what to do at home, so if I wanted to encourage them to use them, maybe I needed to use Dad words....

So here are his words and photo along with other awesome words and photos of Dads using slings, wraps and carriers with their kids. This started small, rapidly grew into a Facebook album of 100 reasons, then an group where you can keep up to date with project developments and share the love of Dads Babywearing (https://www.facebook.com/groups/whydadsbabywear/) and a real life physical book!

The printed book is a celebration of fatherhood, of Dads being my hands on and involved with their children's lives and involving them in theirs. It's made up of some of your favourites here and others unseen online, you can find it here - http://www.babywearingwithjess.com/product/why-dads-babywear/

If you have a babywearing Dad in your house who would be keen to share any other "Dad words" and/or photos of why they wear your kids, email them to us at whydadsbabywear@gmail.com (including Dad's name, child/children's names and approx age in the picture) so we can make you into a poster to share the message with other Dads and others over on our Instagram account www.instagram.com/whydadsbabywear ...

Please see safety guidelines for child carrying here - https://babywearingwithjess.wordpress.com/2016/09/19/anso-child-carrying-safety-guidelines/

I remember this happening a few times in our house! Love how the little one snuggles down and settles the minute someone is with her .
She just needs to be held,

Capture Your Grief Day 1: Perth Western Australia. My sunrise kind of started at sunset as I had not slept for 2 days beforehand. So while this was late, it still felt beautiful. May this month be just as gorgeous. Welcome to everyone joining me xx

Its with great sadness that I am officially no longer accepting clients. I am unable to physically continue and unfortunately there is no end in sight to my disability and health issues. I am so grateful to have been a part of so many families journeys. I will always remember each of you and your special stories.
I will be reworking the website soon to include resources and hope that I will be able to set up Councelling and support services for families as needed- for both pregnancy, parenthood and loss
Thankyou for your continued following.

For those getting through grief today on Father’s Day

Being fatherless at any time can be tough. But it’s interesting how a commercially-driven calendar event like Father's Day can hammer home feelings of loss.
