Abdominal muscle separation is a normal part of pregnancy. During pregnancy, a woman’s abdominal muscles begin to separate to allow the baby to grow, this stretches the band of fascia down the centre so that it becomes thinner as the belly grows larger.

Following pregnancy, spontaneous healing of the abdominal muscle separation occurs for the first 8-9 weeks, whereby hormones act to create more rigidity in the linea alba and bring the abdominals back together. That said, it is thought that in over half postnatal women, the abdominal muscles don’t come back to their original position after these 8-9 weeks and they therefore require additional treatment to address their abdominal muscle separation. This is known as diastasis re**us abdominis muscle (DRAM).

For more information, read our blog post at https://movemountainsphysio.com/blogs/what-is-abdominal-muscle-separation

If you'd like help with DRAM, please book online or call 0436307639 to make an appointment.

We are nearing the end of March which is Endometriosis Awareness Month. Endometriosis affects 1 in 9 Australian women and is the most common cause of pain and infertility.

There is no cure but there are effective treatments that can help symptoms and protect fertility. These treatments are most effective when managed with a multidisciplinary approach.

So, how can women's health physiotherapy help?

By:
Teaching pain management strategies
Improving pelvic floor function
Improving pain with s*x, using tampons etc.
Managing pelvic, lower back or leg pain
Aiding with bowel coordination and management
Helping with nervous system desensitization
 Educating

If you have endometriosis, our women’s health physiotherapist Jaimi would love to help. Call 0436307639 or visit our website to make an appointment.

Such great fun participating in the Snowy Mountains Trail Run on Saturday!

Jaimi and I have both been semi-serious runners in the past but have each taken time off over the last few years - Jaimi to have a baby and for me, because all my AFL injuries from my 20's caught up with me and literally stopped me in my tracks.

Saturday marked the first event back for both of us and my goodness it felt good 😄 Not a bad setting to get back out there around Crackenback and the Thredbo Valley, and great fun sharing it with our mate Steve from as well.

Huge congratulations to all the participants and big thanks to the supporters, volunteers and organisers and .

Can't wait for the next one 🏃🏃🏃

Welcoming our brand new physio Jaimi Gallagher!

Jaimi hails from Sydney but has been holidaying down in Jindy with her family for some years now. Excitingly, they've seen the light and decided to make this trip permanent.

Whilst in Sydney, Jaimi worked in one of the premier Women's Health Physio clinics. She has brought that passion for Women's Health and her wealth of knowledge and experience with her and is now offering prenatal, postnatal and women's health specific physiotherapy services at Move Mountains.

She is of course also comfortable treating our "bread and butter" musculoskeletal injuries of sore backs, knees, ski injuries etc.

If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment to see Jaimi, get in touch today!
