Very fortunate to have a Therapeutic breast Ultrasound at Body & Birth to help our breastfeeding mums with early management of blocked ducts and mastitis. Having had mastitis at 5 months postnatal and managing this with Ultrasound I can personally attest to the efficacy of this technique!

Ive had a lot of patients book in to see me recently for a pelvic floor assessment with the goal of optimising pelvic floor function for labour and postnatal recovery. Many of these patients have been due within a month of their initial appointment.

Whilst you can get your pelvic floor muscles assessed at any time during or prior to pregnancy, we recommend you come in between 16-24 weeks for a pelvic floor assessment if optimising function for pregnancy and during labour and delivery is your goal.

Sometimes we will find muscles that are too tight, weak, lack endurance or contract when they should relax (which is what they need to do in labour). We can assist you with optimising all of the above but we need time to do this with many women noticing changes to their muscle function within 6-12 weeks following a tailored home exercise program.

To all of the mums, mums to be and caregivers. This is your reminder to honour your self care goals for 2024 and prioritise time for yourself.

The candle flickering in the background was a gift from my best friend for my 40th birthday and as I lit it this afternoon realised that this is only the second time it’s been lit since September which means- my second bath (which I love to do as it feels so nurturing) since then.

Hubby got home and promptly took bub for a walk to give me some down time after a big cranky day with bub full of meltdowns. I initially for out the vacuum cleaner and popped the iron on to finish some things that we’d been putting off for lack of time…but then saw this candle in the bathroom and thought- you know what- me time- bath time.

So nice to have little reminders around the house to make time to nurture yourself.

Happy Monday everyone.
