So so sad. The first years of a child's life are critical for their growth and development. During this time, their tiny bodies and minds are rapidly growing, forming connections, and building the foundation for a healthy future.

It's crucial to introduce a wide range of nutritious foods into their diets. Not only does a balanced diet promote healthy physical growth, but it also supports cognitive development and strengthens their immune system.

It makes me so angry to hear that these large companies are taking advantage of well-meaning parents that may not have the money or understanding around nutrition.

This is seriously interesting... this study reports that discontinuing an education in math after age 16 can be disadvantageous for cognitive development. Those who stopped studying math at age 16 had lower levels of a chemical associated with brain plasticity in areas of the brain associated with cognitive function. Moreover, it states that Maths skills are associated with a range of benefits, including employment, socioeconomic status, and mental and physical health.

Wow!!! I hated Maths as a child... ok to be honest I’m still a little scared. I wonder what would be a comparable brain-training task?

Connection and acceptance is imperative to the human condition. As children, if we fail to access our social supports effectively we begin to develop internal narratives that we can carry with us for decades. It is easy to see how this narrative would change depending on whether the child was actively rejected by peers or simply forgotten.

What was your experience of school? And how did it shape your internal voice?

Study reveals clear differences between children who are rejected by their peers and those who face social isolation. Children who are rejected by their peers are more likely to exhibit aggressive behaviors, while those who are isolated were less likely to exhibit prosocial behaviors.

How were you parented? how does those experiences positively or negatively inform the way you want to parent your children? In this article it discusses how children whose parents use “harsh” punishments, such as spanking, have smaller brain structures during adolescence. The decreased size was most noticeable in the amygdala and prefrontal cortex, two areas of the brain associated with emotional processing and the emergence of depression. The positive spin on this information, is that it helps us to step into more conscious parenting practices and slowly begin to change the social norms in parenting.

What is you child's relationship to gaming? How many hours do they spend playing per day? What reactions do they have when they do not have access to their game? Gaming addiction in children, teens and young adults is on the rise.

The researchers recommend several strategies to address online game addiction. They say families, communities and universities should encourage outdoor activities, such as sports competitions and offline games, to address the need for achievement and escapism. In addition, parents, teachers and employers should pay attention to individuals who show a strong need to control their environment and other people, since they can be more susceptible to addiction.

Achievement motivation is one of the strongest predictors of video game addiction, a new study reports.

Longitudinal studies have shown that children born to mothers who used ma*****na during pregnancy experienced long-term issues with cognitive and executive functioning, including impulsivity, as well as deficits in learning, sustained attention and visual problem-solving skills.

THC remains present in breast milk up to six weeks after a woman abstains from ma*****na consumption.
