Fernlea Day Respite Centres are for people with life limiting illnesses, chronic conditions and dementia, who need special support for themselves and their families. We operate 5 sessions per week in two locations - Emerald and Pakenham, to cover the Eastern and Southern parts of Melbourne. Highly trained volunteers support the delivery of our program as well as providing transport, complementary therapies and in home supports. Fernlea is supported with some government funding to provide this service to those over 65 years. Fernlea in-home care is a fee for service initiative providing home help, personal care and nursing services to people in their homes for reasonable fees. The Fernlea Shop of Opportunities through your support, funds the Day Respite programs for those under 65 years and other support services we provide.

Our Story
Fernlea has developed a unique & responsive model of care to meet the needs of our clients and their carers. Fernlea House, our day respite in Emerald first opened its doors in 2004 and since opening has provided day respite for more than 800 people and their families. We have two day respite facilities, in Emerald and Berwick.
Our services are holistic, person-centred and complement clinical palliative care, dementia care and other chronic illnesses. Most importantly, we focus on you as the person and don’t allow your illness to define you.
Our clients can come along to one of our day respite centres, have care provided in their home through Fernlea In-Home Care, or benefit from a combination of both, depending on their changing needs, and all without no lock-in contracts.
