// Hazardous surf alert for parts of NSW.

Large, powerful surf is set to impact beaches from Sydney to the Victorian border over the coming days, with dangerous conditions already affecting the Illawarra, Batemans Bay and Eden coasts.
A warning remains in place, and from today the Hunter, Central Coast and Sydney will also be impacted. If the beach is closed or the ocean looks rough, please stay out of the water. These conditions make it harder and more dangerous for lifesavers to respond quickly so the safest choice is to avoid the coastline altogether.

Rock fishers are a key concern this weekend, with rock platforms becoming extremely risky in big surf. One unexpected wave can be life‑threatening.

Rock Fishing Safety Advice:
• Wear a lifejacket and non‑slip footwear
• Check tides, swell and weather
• Never fish alone
• Carry a phone and tell someone your plans
• Never turn your back on the sea
• Watch the conditions before you start and keep scanning
• Don’t jump in if someone is washed off the rocks
• If swept in, stay calm and swim away from the rocks
• In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000)

🔥 Heatwave Alert 🔥

Heatwave conditions are forecast to commence tomorrow and continue throughout the week and into the weekend across the Far South Coast.

With hot weather and larger crowds expected, Pambula SLSC urges beachgoers to put safety first.

If you’re heading to the beach:
• Check the BeachSafe App for patrolled locations and conditions
• Swim between the red & yellow flags
• Stay hydrated and frequently seek shade
• Supervise children, never swim alone or under the influence

Pambula Beach patrols:
• ALS Lifeguards: 9am–5pm tomorrow to Friday
• Volunteer lifesavers patrol over the weekend

Tomorrow, a special tribute will be held to recognise the lifesavers and first responders who bravely answered the call during the Bondi terrorist attack.

The tribute will take place on Day 1 of the Sydney Test Match at the SCG, shortly after 10:00am.

In a powerful gesture of respect, the Australian and English cricket teams will form a guard of honour, applauding our lifesavers and fellow first responders as they walk onto the field before the SCG crowd.

If you’re able to tune in, we encourage you to take a moment to watch and acknowledge this meaningful tribute.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends and community members directly affected by yesterday’s tragic events at Bondi. Our thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones or been impacted by this senseless tragedy.

We are deeply saddened by what has occurred on the doorstep of our surf clubs. In the face of unimaginable circumstances, volunteer lifesavers acted immediately to provide first aid, guide people to safety and support emergency services.

Our surf clubs are places of refuge and community, and we stand in solidarity with those affected and our friends at North Bondi SLSC and Bondi Surf Club during this incredibly difficult time.

The Surf Life Saving community is in shock and is deeply saddened after yesterday’s horrific shooting attack at Bondi Beach.

Not surprisingly, many volunteer lifesavers acted immediately to respond, providing first aid including CPR, to injured victims, shepherding people to safety inside both the Bondi and North Bondi Surf Life Saving Clubs while the attack was still underway and giving assistance to emergency services.

The Police have described the shooting as a terrorist attack. This is an incomprehensible tragedy, right on the doorstep of our clubs and directly affecting our own members and volunteers.

We can confirm that no lifesavers were physically injured in the attack. However, we recognise that traumatic events of this magnitude can have a far reaching emotional impact.

Surf Life Saving NSW is supporting the clubs and those involved with immediate and extensive counselling and outreach services and has extended that support to all members of Bondi and North Bondi SLSCs.

Our heartfelt condolences are with the families and the broader community who have lost loved ones or friends.

We cannot thank our lifesavers enough for selflessly stepping forward during such a serious and tragic situation. The courage and professionalism of those involved make us all proud to be lifesavers.

Our surf clubs have, and should always be, places of safe haven and yesterday’s tragedy will no doubt galvanise our members to come together, support each other and their community in solidarity against terror and fear.
