This week we travelled over to Keswick to visit the Army Museum of South Australia 🇦🇺

It is one of Brenton’s favourite places. He has a real passion for history and is always keen to share what he knows. He could probably run the tour himself with the depth of knowledge he brings each time.

Supporting our participants to spend time doing what genuinely interests them is at the heart of what we do. When someone lights up talking about their favourite topic, you know it has been a good day 💚

Fresh air, big swings and beach views ⛳🌊

This week for our Treasure Hunt, we headed to West Beach for a visit to the driving range. There were some impressive shots and plenty of laughs.

We finished the outing with lunch overlooking the beach, enjoying the sunshine and good company.

Days like this are about trying new things, building confidence and making memories together.

If you or someone you support would love to be part of our community outings and activities, we would love to hear from you 💚

Last week was another big and delicious week in the Kangaroo Kitchen 💚

On Tuesday, Florian was in charge of the menu and chose a KFC-style snack box 🍗🍟

We rolled up our sleeves to recreate the classic at home and we think we nailed it.

We followed this with cupcakes topped with beautiful fondant decorations 🧁 The designs looked almost too good to eat, but only almost.

Thursday took us in a different direction with salt and pepper squid, plus banana fritters with a twist. We used apple instead and they were a hit 🍎

At the last minute, we also added a Chinese chicken and cashew dish to the menu. Quick thinking and great teamwork all round.

It was also a special day for Tina. She missed the recent graduation ceremony, so we made sure to honour her with the presentation of her very own Kangaroo Kitchen apron 👩‍🍳💚 A proud moment and very well deserved.

If you or someone you support would love to be part of our Kangaroo Kitchen program, we would love to hear from you. Get in touch to find out more.

Have you seen our Quote of the Week on the Kangaroo Disability Services notice board?

This week’s message comes from Norman Vincent Peale:
✨“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” ✨

We love sharing small moments of positivity with our community, especially with the many Adelaide drivers who pass by each day. A few hopeful words can go a long way in brightening someone’s day ✨

Do you have a favourite quote or saying that lifts your mood? We’re always open to ideas 💚

It was a very special moment when Hannah brought in a flower for Michelle, our in-house chef and cooking teacher, as a simple and heartfelt way to say thank you 🌼

These are the moments that really stay with us. Our participants are very important to us, and it’s these genuine acts of kindness that make what we do at Kangaroo Disability Services so meaningful.

Now, excuse us while we grab a tissue. We’re choosing to blame the onions for the tears 🧅🥲

It was another week of learning and fun in the Kangaroo Kitchen and out on the hunt for treasure 💚💜

On Tuesday, the whole Kangaroo Kitchen crew was back cooking up Hannah’s menu of hamburgers, onion rings and chocolate raspberry lamingtons 🍔🍟🍫

Hannah also delighted everyone by playing her ukulele, inspiring a bit of dancing along the way 🎶💃

Thursday had us back in the kitchen with Jorja’s choice of honey chicken with fried rice, followed by apple crumble and ice cream 🍯🍚🍎🍨

And on Wednesday, it was time for another Treasure Hunt, deciphering clues at the Birdwood National Motor Museum 🚗🕵️‍♀️

Take a look through the gallery for some of the highlights from the week.

If you or someone you support would love to be part of our cooking groups or Treasure Hunts, we would love to hear from you.

Today the lovely Hannah brought along her bright green ukulele and filled the kitchen with music and sunshine 💚🎶
She shared some beautiful tunes with her friends while we cooked up hamburgers with onion rings followed by chocolate raspberry lamingtons. The music created such a happy vibe in the kitchen.

Sheebie couldn't resist a dance, joining in as Hannah serenaded our chef and team lead Michelle. Moments like these are what make our days so special.

Music, friendship and plenty of smiles. Just how we like it 💚

Another big week at Kangaroo Disability Services 💚

We kicked things off on Monday with a little inspiration on our quote board:
“The bad news is time flies. The good news is you are the pilot.” ✈️

At Tuesday’s cooking class, we headed to the supermarket to buy ingredients for Sheebie’s choice of fresh sushi 🍣
For dessert, Florian chose to bake a blueberry yoghurt cake 🫐🍰

Wednesday’s Treasure Hunt took us on an adventure to Gorge Wildlife Park 🐨
We spotted loads of animals along the way, including lots of different birds, as well as monkeys, koalas, lizards and kangaroos. We couldn’t help but feel a special connection with our namesake and truly felt part of the mob.

Thursday’s cooking class was another hit.
For mains, we cooked Stephen’s recipe of healthy apricot chicken with fried rice 🍗🍚
Dessert was a classic knickerbocker glory sundae 🍨 which went down very well.

Each week, we love having a mix of learning, choice, teamwork and fun.

Last Thursday was another fun-filled cooking day at KDS 👩‍🍳🍰

We kicked things off the usual way with a trip to the supermarket to pick up all the ingredients, practising planning, teamwork and decision-making along the way.

Back in the kitchen, it was time to get cooking. The group made a delicious sweet and sour pork, with everyone getting involved in prepping, cooking and tasting.

There was also plenty of reason to celebrate. We baked a chocolate cake to mark Claira’s birthday 🎉 and enjoyed welcoming some new faces to the group, which made the day even more special.

Good food, new connections and lots of laughs. Just the way we like it 💚

This week’s Treasure Hunt made the most of the sunshine with a trip to Glenelg ☀️

We loved taking off our shoes and walking along the beach, feeling the sand between our toes and enjoying the fresh sea air.

There was plenty to spot along the way, including the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club keeping everyone safe, a turn sitting in the giant beach chair, and a look at the jetty and the impressive ferris wheel.

We also embraced the laid-back Glenelg vibe at a local cafe, soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying a slower pace.

If you or someone you support would love to be part of our weekly Treasure Hunts and day activities, we would love to hear from you. Get in touch to find out more 💚

On Tuesday, our dynamic duo were cooking up a storm in the kitchen 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

It was Florian’s turn to choose the menu, and he didn’t disappoint. We had a great time making Torpedo Rolls (they're a bit like a Subway sandwich). The fun started at the supermarket, deciding on all the fillings and working the perfect tasty combinations.

As always, we finished on a sweet note with red velvet cupcakes. We topped them with everyone choosing their own favourite sprinkles for dessert 🧁

If you or someone you know would love to be part of our cooking groups or other day activities, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch to find out more 💚
