This week in Kangaroo Cooking Club, Elliot took the lead and chose chicken stirfry for the menu. 🍜

The group started with a trip to the local supermarket to pick up ingredients, then headed back to the kitchen to cook lunch together.

For dessert, it was apple pies, with everyone helping to peel, chop and prep the apples. 🍎🥧

A really good mix of practical skills, independence and trying something new.

If you or someone you support would enjoy being part of Kangaroo Cooking Club, we would love to hear from you.

We’re excited to share that Kangaroo Disability Services is now supporting participants in Hobart and across southern Tasmania.

Since starting in Adelaide, our focus has always been on providing personalised, reliable support that helps people live well, their way.

Now we’re bringing that same approach to Tasmania. Our Tasmania services are led locally by Jyoti, Operations Lead, who will be working closely with participants, families and support coordinators across Hobart and surrounding areas.

If you or someone you support is based in Tasmania and looking for NDIS support, we would love to hear from you.

Each week, our participants head out on a Treasure Hunt… and there is always something new to discover. 🧭

It is a great way to explore different parts of Adelaide, build confidence and pick up new skills along the way. From navigating busy spaces to working together as a team, every outing brings a fresh experience.

The Central Market is always a favourite, with so much to see, taste and explore. 🍎

If you or someone you support would enjoy being part of our Treasure Hunt program, we would love to hear from you. Join us every Wednesday or get in touch to find out more.

Last week in Kangaroo Kitchen, things were busy in the best way ✨

On Tuesday, the crew rolled up their sleeves and made sushi 🍣 with everything from chicken schnitzel to salmon and veggie fillings. Dessert was chocolate cupcakes 🧁, which Florian proudly delivered to the team at St. Martin’s… and made sure the groundskeeper didn’t miss out either 😊

Thursday’s menu was Ashleigh’s choice, with quesadillas 🌮 followed by custard tarts to finish 🍮

Lots of cooking 🍳, a bit of singing 🎵 and plenty of laughs 😂

If you or someone you support would enjoy being part of Kangaroo Kitchen, we would love to hear from you 💚💜

Brenton and Joseph joined Michelle this week for a Treasure Hunt adventure at the Art Gallery of South Australia 🎨

We explored the galleries, discovered some incredible artworks and came across a few exhibits that definitely had us scratching our heads. They sparked some great conversations and plenty of laughs along the way.

To add an extra challenge, we even played a game of “I spy…” as we wandered through the gallery 👀

It was a great day of exploring and enjoying the creativity around us.

If you or someone you support would enjoy being part of our Treasure Hunt adventures, we would love to hear from you.

Our participants are at the centre of everything we do, which means respecting their choices, preferences and independence. 💚

Each week, at Kangaroo Kitchen, participants take turns choosing the menu. Recipes often change along the way to suit dietary needs or personal tastes.

This week, Elliot picked fried chicken with wedges and salad 🍗🥗 followed by waffles with chocolate syrup and ice cream for dessert 🧇🍦

One of the highlights was seeing Joseph, one of our long-term participants who now holds a cooking qualification, mentoring others in the kitchen and sharing his knowledge.

This week we travelled over to Keswick to visit the Army Museum of South Australia 🇦🇺

It is one of Brenton’s favourite places. He has a real passion for history and is always keen to share what he knows. He could probably run the tour himself with the depth of knowledge he brings each time.

Supporting our participants to spend time doing what genuinely interests them is at the heart of what we do. When someone lights up talking about their favourite topic, you know it has been a good day 💚

Fresh air, big swings and beach views ⛳🌊

This week for our Treasure Hunt, we headed to West Beach for a visit to the driving range. There were some impressive shots and plenty of laughs.

We finished the outing with lunch overlooking the beach, enjoying the sunshine and good company.

Days like this are about trying new things, building confidence and making memories together.

If you or someone you support would love to be part of our community outings and activities, we would love to hear from you 💚

Last week was another big and delicious week in the Kangaroo Kitchen 💚

On Tuesday, Florian was in charge of the menu and chose a KFC-style snack box 🍗🍟

We rolled up our sleeves to recreate the classic at home and we think we nailed it.

We followed this with cupcakes topped with beautiful fondant decorations 🧁 The designs looked almost too good to eat, but only almost.

Thursday took us in a different direction with salt and pepper squid, plus banana fritters with a twist. We used apple instead and they were a hit 🍎

At the last minute, we also added a Chinese chicken and cashew dish to the menu. Quick thinking and great teamwork all round.

It was also a special day for Tina. She missed the recent graduation ceremony, so we made sure to honour her with the presentation of her very own Kangaroo Kitchen apron 👩‍🍳💚 A proud moment and very well deserved.

If you or someone you support would love to be part of our Kangaroo Kitchen program, we would love to hear from you. Get in touch to find out more.

Have you seen our Quote of the Week on the Kangaroo Disability Services notice board?

This week’s message comes from Norman Vincent Peale:
✨“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” ✨

We love sharing small moments of positivity with our community, especially with the many Adelaide drivers who pass by each day. A few hopeful words can go a long way in brightening someone’s day ✨

Do you have a favourite quote or saying that lifts your mood? We’re always open to ideas 💚
