How do you engage in these days of rest?
Do you soften, slow down, reconnect… or find yourself moving through them as you would any other day?
For me, Easter always carries a quiet pull back through time. While my own views on religion have evolved, the feeling of these days remains woven into who I am.
I’m taken back to childhood…
A home filled with warmth and anticipation.
The scent of Baked Pasta and Pork Roast drifting through the house.
Tahini, Taramasalata, Baklava, Cooked Coloured Eggs laid out on the table.
Food that told stories of ancestry, tradition, and belonging.
I remember the excitement… waiting for family to arrive……
And the Italian language filtering throughout the house…fast, expressive, full of life… wrapping around every conversation, every laugh, every moment.
The laughter, the noise, the card games, the swimming, the fullness of it all.
Moments that felt endless at the time.
And now… time has shifted.
Chairs once filled sit empty.
Voices that shaped those days live on only in memory.
So today, I sit at a much quieter table.
A table for two.
But in this stillness, there is presence.
There is gratitude.
There is remembrance.
To those who are no longer here in body but forever part of my story and maybe yours…today, I celebrate you✨
