Would you know what to do if someone got bitten by a snake?
Panicking and Googling "how to suck out venom" is not the answer. (Spoiler: please don’t do that.)

Here’s what to actually do if someone is bitten by a snake:
✅ Call 000 immediately
✅ Keep the person still and calm
✅ Apply a pressure bandage over the bite and wrap up the entire limb
✅ Mark the bite location and note the time
✅ Immobilise the limb with a splint (or anything sturdy)

🚫 Do not wash the wound (hospital may need to test for venom)
🚫 Do not apply a tourniquet
🚫 Do not chase the snake

In Australia, early cardiac arrest can happen within 10–60 minutes after a venomous bite.

And if you’re reading this and thinking, “Actually, I have no idea how to wrap a pressure bandage”, this is your sign to change that.

Button batteries: tiny but terrifying.

They’re in remotes, toys, musical books, car fobs and even those talking birthday cards your toddler is obsessed with.
But here’s the thing no one tells you 👇

1️⃣ A button battery stuck in a child’s throat can cause serious damage in under 2 hours and in some cases, just minutes.
And it’s more common than you think.
2️⃣ Around 20 kids a week show up at Aussie emergency departments because of suspected button battery injuries (UniSQ, 2024).

We’re not sharing this to scare you... we’re sharing it to empower you.

💡 Tip: Keep all spare batteries locked away. Double check toys for secure battery compartments. And if you think your child has swallowed one, don’t wait. Head straight to emergency.

Knowing the signs and acting fast can make all the difference.
That’s what first aid is all about.

BOOK YOUR COURSE NOW so you are the most prepared you can be in an emergency situation.

Your brain might freeze. A sticky note won’t.

In an emergency, adrenaline takes over and remembering basic details like your own address or your child’s date of birth can feel near impossible.

Jess, one of our amazing first aid educators (and a nurse who’s seen it all), swears by this simple tip:

🟡 Stick a note on the fridge with your key info.

Think:
👶 Kids’ full names
🎂 Their dates of birth
⚠️ Any allergies
📍Your home address

When you need to call Triple Zero, reading off a note is a lot easier than trying to recall details under pressure, especially if you’re panicked or your hands are literally full.

It takes two minutes to write. It could save precious minutes when it counts.

👉 Save this. Share this. And stick it somewhere you’ll see it.

Halloween: costumes, candy… and unexpected first‑aid moments!

Did you know many Aussie families buy costumes or props online that don’t comply with safety standards? One survey found nearly all of 192 items tested from online marketplaces failed safety checks for costumes and novelties.

Here’s what to watch out for:
✔️ Accessories that dangle or detach: a cape dragging on the ground, sharp props, loose masks = tripping or choking risk.
✔️ Costumes without proper fire‑safety labelling.
✔️ Lollies handed out without ingredient checks: in Australia, around 5‑10% of children have a diagnosed food allergy, and Halloween increases the risk of an allergic reaction.

🛡️ Quick tips for a safer spooky night:
Choose costumes with no loose parts and enough length to avoid trips.
Skip masks that block peripheral vision or props that look sharp in low light.
When you’re handing out treats: include allergy‑friendly options and consider non‑food alternatives.
Walk trick‑or‑treat routes with younger kids and use visible or reflective accessories so drivers can spot them easily.

Let’s keep the fun in Halloween without the unexpected accidents!

Would you know what to do if someone stopped breathing next to you?

▪️You’re at a birthday party.
▪️On a walk.
▪️In the carpark.
▪️At work.

And someone, maybe a stranger, maybe not, suddenly collapses.

What would you do?
Here’s what most people don’t realise:
👉 In Australia, about 70 people a day suffer a cardiac arrest outside of hospital. And for every minute that passes without CPR, their chance of survival drops by 10%.

So here’s what you need to know about CPR (without the fluff):
💛Push hard and fast in the middle of the chest
💛Think: Stayin’ Alive beat (about 100–120 compressions per minute)
💛Push down around a third of the chest depth
💛Don’t stop unless help takes over or the person starts breathing again
💛It doesn’t have to be perfect... it just has to happen.

We’re paramedics and nurses who’ve been there. We’ve seen the moments when CPR made all the difference and we’ve seen what happens when no one steps in, simply because they didn’t know how.

You don’t need to be a hero. You just need to be ready.

📍Book a first aid course with us today and walk away with the confidence to act when it matters.

We asked our team one simple question...
“What’s one thing in your handbag that could actually help in a first aid situation?”

Hit play. Take notes. Then check your own handbag... you might be more first-aid-ready than you think.

We're not just teaching it, we've lived it.

Whether we’re running a course or standing in the middle of a busy expo, one thing never changes:

We show you how it’s done.
We're nurses. We're paramedics. We've treated the injuries, comforted the parents, and made the calls no one ever wants to make.

So when we teach first aid, we don’t just run through a checklist... we break it down. We demonstrate it and we give you the kind of insight you only get from being on the front line.

No cookie-cutter courses here. Just real training from real experience. The kind that sticks when you need it most.

You’d be surprised how many trips to the emergency department start with... an actual trip. 👣

Falls are the number one reason kids end up in hospital and most of them? Happen right at home. From coffee table collisions to top bunk tumbles, it doesn’t take much.

Knowing what to do after a fall is just as important as trying to prevent them.

🎶 “My name is Mia, I’m four years old, I live at 12 Peachy Road, and our gate is gold!”

If you haven’t turned your phone number or address into a song yet… you’re seriously missing a parenting hack that could one day save a life.

Why?

Because little kids learn best through rhythm, rhyme and repetition so in an emergency, being able to give their name, address or a parent’s phone number can help responders get to you faster.

📞 Make it a jingle.
🎤 Make it a game.
🧠 Make it stick.

Start small. Repeat often. And don’t forget to clap along - share this one with your friends!
