👩‍⚕️👶👧🧑‍🎓 A busy Monday morning at with children aged 1 to 17 undergoing medically supervised food and drug challenges.

🥜🌰 Today’s allergens included peanut, cashew, hazelnut, and pistachio — plus a cephalexin (antibiotic) drug challenge 💊.

✅ Food challenges are safe and carefully supervised by allergy specialists. They remain the gold standard for diagnosing food allergies and are often the key to discovering if a child has outgrown their allergy — opening up new foods and more freedom.

💛 It’s always a privilege to support families on their journey with food allergy — one bite (or sip!) at a time.

Brilliant! Here are clear, practical and evidence-based guidelines by the for how schools and childcare can help reduce the risk of anaphylaxis for children with food allergy.

It is with great pleasure that today we launch the Best practice guidelines for anaphylaxis prevention and management in schools and children’s education and care (CEC) services.

The new guidelines provide consistent, evidence-based, best practice guidance for staff in schools and CEC, and parents, and will help reduce the risk of anaphylaxis in these settings while supporting children to participate in the full range of activities.

Thank you to the many stakeholders, school and CEC service staff and parents/guardians who have engaged with us to help develop the Guidelines and supporting resources.

For more information and to download the Best Practice Guidelines visit: https://www.allergyaware.org.au/

Terrific news - recruitment for this worldwide peanut patch trial, EPITOPE, has reopened.

Do you have a child aged 1-3 years old with peanut allergy? Our colleagues at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) now have more spots available for participants to join the Viaskin EPITOPE peanut patch study.

This is a global Phase III study where participants are recruited across North America (USA & Canada), Ireland and Australia. To read more about EPITOPE and the peanut patch trial, seehttps://www.dbv-technologies.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/4190-pr_epitope_fpi-1.pdf and https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03211247?term=Epitope&cond=Peanut+Allergy.

Please email sasha.odoi@mcri.edu.au to hear more about your child’s eligibility to take part in this study - places are limited. And do remember to share this with friends or family who might be interested. 🥜
