Brain health becomes increasingly important as people age.

For people with Down syndrome there is a higher likelihood of developing dementia, often earlier than in the general population.

Early awareness, regular health checks and supportive environments can make a significant difference.

Understanding these changes helps families and health professionals provide the right support.

Brain health matters for everyone.

In the lead up to World Down Syndrome Day (21 March) we are sharing information during Brain Awareness Week about how to support brain health across the lifespan.

People with Down syndrome can experience some neurological conditions more often than the general population, including epilepsy and dementia as they age. This makes awareness, early support and good health information especially important.

This week we will be sharing practical information about brain health and neurological conditions.
