📣 Major update for the disability community: Graeme Head steps in as the new CEO of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

Graeme was the inaugural NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner between 2018 and 2021, and more recently led the NSW Department of Customer Service. He’s no stranger to big systems, complex reforms and the pressures that come with them.

His appointment comes at a time when connection and collaboration are key to strengthening the country's disability support system through the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme.

At Leora Healthcare, we’re hopeful this marks a positive step towards a more inclusive, transparent and empowering system—one that continues to help people live well and thrive. 💜

Rising after a setback takes courage, and that courage can transform lives. 💪

In this month’s Fireside Chat, we sat down with Stacey Copas, speaker, author and resilience coach, for an inspiring conversation on what it means to turn adversity into strength.

Together with Leora Healthcare Founder and Co-CEO Esha Oberoi, we explored how resilience isn’t just about “bouncing back” but about shifting focus from problems to possibilities, and how even the hardest moments can become stepping stones when we meet them with awareness and gratitude.

Some reflections from the session:
📌 Focus on what you have, not what you’ve lost. This mindset helps us see that even in change, there’s still so much to hold on to.
📌Gratitude changes everything. Stacey shared that saying “thank you”, even in difficult moments, can gently shift how we see the world, from what’s missing to what’s still possible. It’s a simple habit that turns heaviness into perspective, and perspective into strength.
📌 Presence is power. The past can weigh you down and the future can stir anxiety, but the present is where peace takes root.
📌 You don’t have to prove your strength by pushing harder. Sometimes resilience means pausing, feeling and letting yourself be human.
📌 What you choose to focus on shapes what you see. When we choose to notice possibilities, we create space for growth and hope.

Stacey’s story is a reminder that life’s hardest turns can reveal what we’re truly made of. ✨ Resilience can take many forms—a small act of courage, a choice to try again or the grace to accept help when it’s needed.

For people with disability and the carers who walk beside them, it’s a testament that strength grows in many directions and that every step forward, no matter how small, matters.
