Stress isn’t just a feeling — it’s a full body event.
When you’re running on cortisol day after day, here’s what’s quietly happening beneath the surface:
🦠 Your gut microbiome shrinks. Chronic stress literally reduces microbial diversity- the bacterial species that support your immunity, mood, and digestion start disappearing- this impact can be similar to antibiotics!!!
🌀 Your hormones fall out of sync. Cortisol borrows from your progesterone, disrupts your cycle, tanks your thyroid output, and keeps oestrogen dominant.
😴 Your sleep deteriorates. High cortisol at night means you can’t drop into deep, restorative sleep — so you wake up exhausted and do it all again.
I’ve been there. And I get that there are times you have to knuckle down and just survive.
But that’s not how your body should feel every single day.
If you’re stuck in that cycle — wired but tired, bloated, hormones all over the place, running on nothing — that’s not your baseline. That’s your body asking for something different.
You don’t have to white knuckle your way through your own life. 💛
