In naturopathy, we believe that true healing goes far beyond just treating symptoms.

Every part of you, mind, body, spirit, is connected.
When one is out of balance it creates a ripple effect, impacting the whole system.

That’s why we take the time to understand YOU.
Your lifestyle, your approach to life, your emotions, your diet, your environment and even your beliefs.

Understanding your story helps us uncover not only what’s going on, but why.

Healing happens when we support you as a whole person, focusing on your strengths, addressing areas for improvement and restoring balance on every level.

When the gut or liver can’t clear histamine efficiently, or stress keeps cortisol elevated, even mild triggers can set off sneezing, congestion, and fatigue.

From a naturopathic view, we focus on calming the body’s response, and improving your immune function…not just masking symptoms.

When these systems are supported, your body naturally becomes less reactive.

Comment “ALLERGIES” and we’ll send you a link to our blog post that covers a few natural ways you can manage your allergies this spring 💚

As naturopaths we do not want to just mask your symptoms. We work with you and investigate until we find and treat the root cause of your symptoms.

This means that we take the time to listen to your story and work with you to uncover the driver of your dis-ease.

A naturopath will explore the factors impacting your health, such as: genetics, lifestyle, social, environmental, external and medical interventions.

Then, help you to reduce the amount of factors that are causing strain on your body, that which is interfering with your healing.

While reducing your symptoms is important, we don’t just stop there.

If you want to uncover and treat the cause of your symptoms, book in with one of our naturopaths.

The link between the gut and immune system often gets missed with autoimmune conditions.

That’s why we always go in depth about gastrointestinal health with all of our clients.

Studies have found that gut imbalance (dysbiosis) and a leaky gut are strongly linked to autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto’s, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus.
👉 (see last slide for references)

When we focus on healing the gut lining, balancing the microbiome and reducing stress, we can bring the immune system back into balance and reduce the body’s “attack” response.

Simple ways to improve your gut health 🌟

Your gut isn’t only for digesting food, it influences your mood, energy, hormones and immune system.

Here are a few easy habits that make a big difference:
🥕 Eat a variety of colourful fruits and veggies to feed beneficial gut bacteria
💧 Stay hydrated to keep things moving smoothly
😌 Manage stress (your gut and brain are in constant communication)
🍽️ Slow down and chew your food well for better digestion
🌾 Choose whole, unprocessed foods to nourish your microbiome with real nutrients

In naturopathy, fennel is commonly used either as a food/tea or a herbal extract.

It’s a beautiful aromatic herb with yellow flowers.

The volatile oils relax smooth muscle of the intestines, which is why it is often used for digestive complaints.

People also use fennel for menstrual problems, to promote lactation, and to reduce anxiety and rheumatoid arthritis.

“The Healing Power of Nature”

This principle is about the belief that your body has the innate ability to heal itself.

Corpus Hippocraticum said in 400BC that nature was the force to restore health and balance in humans.

We are nature as are plants and animals.

As naturopaths we don’t “fix” you, but we do help you to remove obstacles that block your body’s natural healing processes, and provide your body with the nourishment it needs to restore balance. That can be through rest, nutrition, movement, emotional balance or herbal preparations.

Sometimes it can look like supporting gut health, regulating hormones, or calming inflammation.
But always it begins with trusting your body’s wisdom. 🌿

Feeling bloated or uncomfortable after eating is a sign that your digestion is struggling.

Bitter herbs and foods like gentian, dandelion, rocket, and artichoke, help to “wake up” your digestive system.

“First, do no harm” the foundation of all true healthcare and the heart of naturopathy.

In naturopathy, this principle means:
• Using the least invasive, most natural options first.
• Teaching the patient how aspects of their life are interrelated and how they contribute to health.
• Weighing the risk/benefit of treatments especially in relation to interactions and the patients vitality.

Healing doesn’t have to be harsh.

Naturopaths respect the holistic nature and vitality of the patient, making sure they are supported.

💚 At Abundant Life & Health, this vital principle guides every consultation, treatment plan and recommendation we give.
