Herbs are the leaf part of a plant that is used in cooking – these can be used fresh or dried. ⁣

Herbs are a fantastic way to add flavour and colour to any sort of dish or drink, whether sweet or savoury, without adding fat, salt or sugars. In addition to flavour and colour, they each also tend to have their own set of health-promoting properties.⁣

Consuming herbs may help to prevent and manage heart disease, cancer and diabetes. It may also help to reduce blood clots and provide anti-inflammatory and anti-tumour properties.⁣

Fresh herbs often contain higher antioxidant levels compared to processed or dried herbs but if you are using herbs in order to harness their health-promoting aspects first and foremost, aim to add your fresh herbs at the end of cooking or as you serve to preserve these properties!⁣

𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐲 𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝⁣

Serve it with a tortilla, extra corn, brown rice, or quinoa for more fiber-packed whole grains. You can also serve it over a bed of leafy greens.⁣

Instructions ⁣

Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl and toss gently. Serve cold or at room temperature. Stored in a covered container in the refrigerator, leftover Easy Bean Salad will keep for up to 3 days.⁣

While we may be a bit biased in favor of matcha, we have to give coffee its due.

Recent research is showing that coffee isn’t as bad as we once thought. In moderate amounts, coffee consumption may be connected with a decreased risk of heart disease. Drinking a cup of coffee may also help prevent cognitive decline.⁣

While coffee does have a share of beneficial minerals and nutrients. These powerful nutrients help to prevent disease, cancer, free radicals, and other ailments. It has anti-aging properties and may even restore your DNA.⁣

Coffee has a high caffeine content. While the caffeine can be helpful, especially if you’re feeling lethargic, tired, or need a quick energy burst, the caffeine in coffee can also have some not-so-great effects.⁣

Caffeine is quickly spread through your body, giving you a short burst of renewed energy. Common side effects of too much coffee consumption are jitteriness, nervousness, racing heart, headaches, and insomnia.⁣

Matcha has about 50% less caffeine than coffee. However, unlike coffee, matcha also contains certain phytonutrients, like our friend L-theanine, that helps your body absorb the caffeine in your matcha tea latte slowly.

That means that, instead of the huge caffeine spike you get from drinking coffee, matcha allows you to benefit from the caffeine’s awakening effects for much longer. This also solves the problem of jitteriness. ⁣

The effect of matcha’s caffeine hit has been described by many as calming. And that’s a great way to start your day!⁣

Calcium plays crucial roles in your body.⁣

It’s well known for its ability to build and maintain your bones. Yet, this mineral is also important for muscle contraction, blood pressure regulation, nerve transmission, and blood clotting.⁣

Here are some of non-dairy sources of calcium:⁣

Soy Foods⁣
Soybeans are naturally rich in calcium.⁣

One cup (175 grams) of cooked soybeans provides 18.5% of the RDI, whereas the same quantity of immature soybeans — known as edamame — offers around 27.6%.⁣

Beans, Peas, and Lentils⁣
In addition to being rich in fiber and protein, beans and lentils are good sources of calcium.⁣

Seeds⁣
Seeds and their butters are also good sources of calcium, but the amount they contain depends on the variety.⁣

Chia and flax seeds also contain decent amounts, providing around 5–6% of the RDI per 2 tablespoons (20–25 grams).⁣

Vegetables⁣
Some vegetables — especially bitter ones like dark leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables — are rich in calcium.⁣

For instance, spinach, bok choy, as well as mustard, and collard greens provide 84–142 mg per cooked 1/2 cup (70–95 grams, depending on the variety) — or 8–14% of the RDI.⁣

Fruits
Some varieties of fruit contain good amounts of calcium.⁣

For instance, raw figs provide 18 mg — or close to 2% of the RDI — per fig.

Oranges are another somewhat high-calcium fruit. They contain around 48–65 mg, or 5–7% of the RDI per medium-sized fruit, depending on the variety.⁣

Red, orange, green and yellow bell peppers are full of great health benefits—they’re packed with vitamins and low in calories! ⁣

They are an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and potassium. Bell Peppers also contain a healthy dose of fiber, folate, and iron.⁣

Even though they are different colors, they all have similar amounts of vitamin A and vitamin C in them. Red Bell Peppers also contain lycopene, an antioxidant or carotenoid that helps fight free radicals in your body. ⁣

One thing to note is that all three colors of bell peppers that we grow have substantially more nutritional value than green bell peppers – this is because green bell peppers are picked before the ripening process is complete and all the nutrients and natural sugars enter (which makes them bitter) the pepper.⁣

Along with being full of nutrients, bell peppers deliver a satisfying and low-calorie crunch with every bite. Try eating Bell Peppers instead of high-calorie chips and crackers with dips like hummus or salsa!⁣

Legumes are large, fleshy, colorful plant seeds. Beans, peas, and lentils are all types of legumes. Vegetables such as beans and other legumes are an important source of protein. They are a key food in healthy diets and have many benefits.⁣

They are also a great replacement for meat as a source of vegetarian protein.⁣

Beans and legumes have a number of health benefits, including reducing cholesterol, decreasing blood sugar levels and increasing healthy gut bacteria.⁣

They are excellent sources of dietary fiber, protein, B vitamins and many other important vitamins and minerals.⁣

Not only that, but eating more beans and legumes as a source of protein instead of meat is also environmentally friendly.⁣

𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐋𝐨𝐚𝐟⁣

This ‘tried and true’, classic vegan banana bread recipe is moist, healthy, and so easy to make. It’s egg & dairy free, has an oil-free option, and is the best banana bread ever!⁣

This plant-based banana bread recipe is kid friendly and a fan-favorite for good reason – it’s delicious!⁣

Banana bread is easy to veganize by adding extra banana, which acts as a binder, replacing the need for eggs or other egg replacers. And as an added benefit, it also helps to lessen the amount of sugar needed. The trick is to use very ripe, freckly bananas, because the riper your bananas are, the less sugar you’ll need! This recipe only calls for 1/4 cup of sugar, but of course you can adjust, up or down, to suit your tastes.⁣

Directions⁣
Add the bananas to the bottom of a medium mixing bowl and mash well, add in the remaining wet ingredients and mix well. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just until incorporated. Do not overmix.⁣

Pour the batter in a greased 9 x 5 loaf pan and bake for 50 – 55 minutes. Ovens are different, so use your best judgement. You can test for doneness using a toothpick, if it comes out clean, it’s ready.⁣

Let the banana bread cool, slice and enjoy!⁣

To lose weight, you generally need to reduce your daily calorie intake.⁣

Unfortunately, weight loss diets often lead to increased appetite and severe hunger.⁣

Getting sufficient protein in your diet can help promote weight loss, partly by decreasing your appetite.⁣

Eating a fiber-rich diet can decrease hunger and help you eat fewer calories. It can also promote long-term health.⁣

Eating your calories rather than drinking them can help you eat less without feeling more hungry. Drinking low-calorie liquids (water) before a meal can help you eat fewer calories without leaving you hungry.⁣

Eating from smaller plates may help you unconsciously eat less without increasing your feelings of hunger.⁣

Hunger is an important and natural signal that should not be ignored.⁣

The tips mentioned here are just a few simple ways to reduce your appetite and hunger between meals.
